I no longer moderate this forum

For everyone's information, I no longer moderate this forum. This was my own decision.

Questions, comments and complaints regarding this forum should no longer be directed to me.

For issues with posts/threads, the "Report to Moderator" link at the bottom each post is probably the most effective way to contact the forum moderators.

For more general questions about the forum, contact Sloth by PM or at admin@pokerforum.ca

  • Thanks Scotty - your work here was appreciated! Hopefully you're just joining us peons and not actually leaving :)
  • I echo everyone else I'm sure, Scotty. Hope you still plan on being an active member here. You're involvement as a moderator has been noted and appreciated.

    Thanks!
  • I don't blame you. It's a thankless job. Except when people thank you. Thanks, SZ!

I hope this doesn't have to do with 'a few bad expereinces' of late.  I know you to have always been pretty forthcoming in regards to the decisions you have made.  Was this one of a personal matter or something else?  I respect your decision regardless and if you'd rather not give details I understand.

Thanks for your years of information and service.

  • I'm on the "Thanks Scotty" bandwagon. Hopefully you'll still be taking down the CPF tournies.
  • Scooooooooooooooooooooooooty noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Hope you still have time to post sometimes. I'm still rampaging feel free to come take my $$ any time.
  • Sad News!!!

Thanks for all the hard work and effort you put into this forum!

Please don't abandon us completely, your poker insights are always helpful and your jokes/Simpson's references make me laugh!!!

    Peace Scotty,

  • WOW... I just saw this... Thanks for all you've done Scotty... mods are generally underappreciated, but most members here hold you in high regard for your poker knowledge, insight, helpfulness, humour, man-flirting, etc... hopefully you'll continue to post here. <sniff> Damn, I miss you already!! <sniff>

I'm so surprised this idiot hasn't been banned yet.
  • 13Cards..really mature. Get over yourself.

Good job for all the work you have done Scotty. I hope to still see lots of your contributions in other threads still.
  • in light of 13cards's comments and the obvious spite behind it...along with the advice of 'several' members here, I have banned 13cards from posting under his username for 30 days.

Cards...if you wanted to blow off steam to Scott here was definately not the time or place to do it. Scott was around here long before most and has contributed heavily to say the very least.

I for one haven't been much of a 'ban happy' person but I made an exception in this case. I am still slowly, but surely composing a clear listing of the kinds of actions that will result in bans/mutes/edits etc. to limit the surprise/shock factor to those on the receiving end.
  • Agreed... this is about all that Scott has done for this forum (a LOT), not about some stupid disagreement that nobody cares about in the first place.

Scotty, you will be dearly missed. This place won't be the same without you. Please continue to post here... your advice was unbelievably solid, and it would be great to have you around.

    Come back! Come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Moderating the forum has been a real challenge. Hopefully this doesn't sound too arrogant, but I think I've done well. I'm sure I've made mistakes, and I can understand that not everyone is going to like some the decisions I have made, particularly the ones that affect them directly.

To clarify what I have done here, the vast majority of the task has been keeping the forum clear of advertising. Probably 90% or more of the moderation actions I took were clearing spam and/or banning spammers. I suppose that if you didn't really notice that I was doing this, then it was working well.

The recent issues with so-and-so being banned for 10 days are a TINY part of my moderating activities, but oddly, are the most highly visible ones. I am truly amazed that people have gotten so upset at having their access to this forum temporarily restricted. This must be a great forum (and I don't mean that sarcastically) if people are getting that bent out of shape over missing out on it.

The thing that haunts me most about my decision is that I feel like I've left Sloth hanging out to dry here in terms of the forum moderation. If you think that I have done something good for this forum, I would thank you, and then promtly direct your attention to Sloth. I know first hand that he has done more for this forum than I (or anyone) could ever hope to accomplish. This is literally his forum, but it's also his forum in a much more broad sense. I gave me real satisfaction to help him with his forum until now, and it pains me to have been put into a sitatuation where I feel I can no longer do so.

Well done sir. We really don't need guys like this around here. For 13cards, upon your return I'd suggest you tread lightly...or just simply, don't return.

    LMAO.

As far as the 30 day banning: Sweet, his whining was cluttering useful threads, and was more annoying than reading a bad beat post...

Thanks Scotty for all you hard work. Maybe now instead of wasting your time getting rid of the spammers you can use it to actually post some of the "good stuff" (hands, tourney situations, trip reports, etc., etc., etc.)
  • Where the hell have I been? I finally just read about Scotty's "annoy 13Cards by pulling the same play on him" hand. Well played sir. And way too funny...
  • Scott...you haven't left me hanging at all. Don't worry about that, I respect your decision,..but as far as I'm concerned, if you want to consider it a vacation for as long as you want, that's cool too. You have an open invitation anytime to pick up where you left off. Just let me know.
  • Yes. Pick up where you left off please. In like a few weeks or something!
  • WOW.

Scott, I can not convey who much your effort and experience has meant to me. I always look to reference your opinion on a poker subject.

I always get a kick out of your wit. You are one of the sharpest minds on this forum.

You have my respect! Please stick around.

  • I saw Scotty should come back in 30 days. Really mess with 13cards. I bet there will be a banning to be given out in 30 days from now.
  • Flint Bones... the "baby eater" title underneath your avatar made me laugh out loud. I read that thread, and I remember thinking: "BABY EATER???? WTF? Who SAYS that?" So, LOLOLOLOL.

    Sorry for the brief hijack.

I have no desire at all to continue with this matter. If 13CARDS decides to let the matter drop, I'm not going to get into it again.
