Turning Stone doesn't like Canadians.

Had a fun trip...but man was luck ever stacked against me alllllll week (cept for online, I actually did well playing on a laptop in the hotel room)

A key hand that could've changed my trip experience.

I'm UTG with :ah :ad at a 1-2 NL ring game. I raise to $20 (typical preflop raise was 12-20 and usually it would get at least 2-3 callers)

2 folds, a guy in mid position herein referred to as "potato head" calls. Seat 10 says: "I'll raise to fifty"

Potato head verbally calls out of turn and is quite excited about it.

I figure potato head has QQ-KK and maybe seat 10 has JJ or AK...they are both excited about their hands and I know potato is gonna call.

"All in for $220" I say.

"I reraise...allin $270" goes potato head.

seat 10 who has us both covered by a bit calls.

I show my :ah :ad

potato head has :ac :3d

seat 10 has: :as :ks

board comes spade, spade, spade.

goodbye!

That was my experience all week...I had my sets cracked, I had top two broken at least 3 times I can recall...like one where I had :9s :ts and the board came :9h :10c :2d but I'm against pocket Jacks and a 2 comes on the turn.

Did I have a good time? Hells ya! I would do it again. Had a lot of fun. :)

  • How did you do at the tournaments Sloth?
  • read the title of my post lol that ought to tell ya!

Not so well sadly...not much I could do. MY very, very first hand in one of the tournaments I flopped a set and had some guy call half his stack on a 9 high flush draw (he didn't have overcards or any other draw etc) and he caught. My tournaments went no better than my ring games..I couldn't win a race to save my life...if I had AK vs 77, I wouldn't hit...if I held 77 vs AK, an A or K would fall...it was "just one of those days" that happened to spread over a few days.
  • That really sucks. Hopefully your online play made up for some of those losses

    How did the others do?
  • i find when i'm running like this (which is most of the time btw) you have to get on the other side of those battles, be all in and a 10-1 underdog and suck 'em dry... it really makes you feel better. then you can get back to your regular play not thinking that you are going to get beat every time.
