WSOP Final Satellite

One of the Prizes for the for Woodman Tourney was a $275 WSOP (satellite)grand final seat, which will gives me a 1-50 chance to win a $12,500 WSOP main event package on Poker.com. Now currently there 27 people registered for the next game which will be on March 12th, the maximum number of seats for this tournament is 300 the minimum is 50 as there is one seat for every 50 entrants.

The question is should I try to play a game that has more people which means more seats but also means a longer game against a larger field, or should I go for a smaller game with fewer seats but against a smaller field and shorter game?

  • If it were me I would go in the larger event Chris.

How bad would it suck to finish 2nd in the 50-man event? Pretty bad. For that reason alone I would roll with the larger field. With only one winner, the pressure is higher. Sure the bigger field makes it more difficult, but you don't have to be the winner. Plus in the bigger field, I am assuming guys are going to be playing super-tight come bubble time. Are you a good bubble player? If so, I'd reckon there would be a lot of spots to pick up chips if you get down to the final 15...

It's a free-roll for you anyways, so just have fun with it. Good luck.

I'm think the same thing AK*1.....I think I'm going to wait until at least 150 players so there are at least 3 seats. I figure with more players it will give me a better shot at getting a seat as I find that heads up can be a real coin flip sometimes, not so much on a shorter table.
  • I played in this one before. Last few there have been just over 100 players if I recall, so 2 seats + x retries. There might only be 4 or so of these events left so better not wait too long. Might want to double check though.

For this 12th there are less then 50 people so I don't think I'll do it this week. The marketing guy for the site told me they have then every other Sunday but didn't so for how long but I figure there' still a few months before they stop running them. Thanks for the info.

BTW how did you find the play? Players/Blind structure?
  • Not too agressive, a lot of calling. I can't remember the blind structure sorry. Well if there are less than 50 people and they will still guarantee one seat, definately play it. If they are going to do it every other Sunday, I don't think they will reach 150 players.
  • Would it be possible to run a member's online satelite tournament where the first prize would be entry into this tournament? any extra cash would go towards 2nd, etc. Not sure if a private tournament can be linked to a non-private tournament? I guess it doesn't necessarily need to be linked, as long as we purchase the buy-in for this tournament in advance and it can be assigned to another member of this site once the member's satelite tournament is finished. Any interest?
  • Just play poker.com's satellites. They have $20 to get into the $80, and $80 to get into that final one.
