i'm sure the answer is easy, but can someone tell me a site that would tell me if my vid card is DirectX® 8.1-compatible?

    lol sorry for the lack of words.

    Well yes Yahoo Games on Demand has a launcher that will read your compatibility to certain games and tell you other info such as the one found below:

    . DirectX 9.0
    · Processor Speed 500Mhz
    · Memory 128MB
    · Video Card Memory 16MB
    · 3D Video Card

    However, you will need to download their game launcher (something I forgot to mention) in order for their system to check your compatibilty to the various computer games.

    hmmm looking back now I am sure you can find an easier site...

    Most of the DirectX stuff is backwards compatible. So, if you have older DirectX 7 (example only) drivers installed and you upgrade to DirectX 8 or 9 drivers, it shouldn't hurt anything.
