Definitely puts a prospective to the complete package of a Poker Player. I very strongly reccomend this article to every forum member and true poker enthusiast. Here is a great sample...

Many people dislike evaluating themselves, and they especially dislike this comparative process. They say, essentially, “I am good at bluffing, reading cards, or whatever, and I don’t want to compare myself to other people.” That attitude is destructive because you must objectively compare yourself to the competition. Your results depend not upon your absolute abilities, but upon that comparison. If you are a better player than they are, you win. If they are better, you lose. It really is that simple.

This is where I think the great poker player comes out, acknowledging their game and playing on the weakness of their opponent.

    On a side note
There have been forum members in the past that have perceived me comparing bankrolls, to quality of poker player. I have a simple question.

Why do professional players play the big games?

POKER PLAYER - able to fold KK preflop

I am a POKER PLAYER, I know this because in a heads-up pot, I folded KK preflop, faceup. My opponent (whom I'm not very familiar w/) said "good fold" & showed AA. The table couldn't believe I folded KK preflop.

BTW, I know the poker player who went all-in w/ the 66.

This is a terrible fold. I don't think I need to explain myself.

Come on. He'd played with the guy for OVER AN HOUR! Easy laydown when you have a read that solid... :)

    Thank you.
I am waiting for the I folded AA preflop thread. I folded cuz I knew he'd hit his flush. He showed 10 5 clubs and said, "Good Fold".

yeah i folded AA online once, my internet screwed up.
  • Yea kyle, I did the same and folded AA once, I was seriously lagged and pushed and watched my AA go folding away. Then I got over it and pushed next hand with 7 3 suited.
  • Wow, I did not think I'd get this much flack, especially when the guy showed AA. I did lose some $ (I reraised) & I picked up on a tell from when we played Omaha.

I'm not saying I routinely fold KK preflop (it was my 1st time), & I'm not saying that I was 100% sure he had AA & that it's an easy fold. I've folded QQ preflop (3 out of 4 times I was behind).

It was on Sunday, Feb 26 at Beaches Poker Club, Queen & Carlaw. There were at least 10 witnesses.
  • Laying down KK preflop is tough to do.

If you know youre beat, then putting any more money in the pot isnt even an option regardless the hand you hold.

Obviously you had a read on this particular player, and it paid off (by not losing your stack to an all in).

There's a reason KK is the second best hand, its always possible that AA is held by another player.

Now, with no read or prior playing experience with any random player, I would have to call all in with KK preflop, but thats not the scenario here.

    Good laydown.
