Blackjack team?

Has anyone seen the MIT blackjack team? It's a whole system with card counting and team playing to bust casino's?
I wonder if there is any documentation on the net about how to do this.
I admit..i dont have an MIT level intelligence (sp?)..but man..i'm pretty sure i could count cards.
Failing that..it was a cool documentary content wise..you should check it out....

  • The book based on the MIT BJ team is a good read.

  • You have to understand that since then the casino's have implemented a few things to counteract the counters.

    1. more decks - 6 or 8
    2. a bigger cut - ie the cut card now goes about 30-40% from the back so combined with more decks with anywhere from 2-3 decks not being dealt card counting is less effective.
    3. continuous card shufflers - card counting is useless with these devices.

Plus casino's have no requirement to let you gamble on their premises. If you are caught card counting you will be banned and that info is shared with the other casinos. I'd rather play poker where your edge is likely to be bigger and you can't be banned for being a better poker player.
  • Almost all casinos have impletmented multiple deck shoots, or if there are single or double deck games the penetration is very low.
  • I've never really played blackjack anyways...it always seemed like such a craps shoot.....i've seen people lose 100's of dollars on a blackjack table while i'm waiting for my holdem'....

it's still interesting tho....i really enjoyed the documentary

You should try craps insetad, although shooting craps always seems like such a Baccarat game.

  • Andy Bloch was part of the famous MIT blackjack team
  • The other way casino's have counteracted this is that they don't allow new players to the table midshoe at the VIP tables.
  • The book is called 'Bringing Down the House.' Or something very similar, my copy is out on loan right now so I can't refer to it. It was a very good read.

  • Yeah the book is okay, much better than the movie "The Last Casino" and more detailed than the documentary. The system is basic blackjack theory combined with increasing the size of the bets when the "count" is good. A good count is when there are more high cards left in the shoe than low cards.

I thought the book was an awesome read, moreso for the story than the authors writing ability. I also thought "The Last Casino" was a pretty damn good movie, especially for a Canadian film.
