Home game ruling...

I 'm playing at my next door neighbour's house with 7 of his friends who I mostly don't know at all. They all suck, as much as you can, excpet for 1 guy.

Anyway, second tournament of the night, I'm hammered and not shy at this point. Well, maybe even obnoxious. Denfinately obnoxious.

Down to three (top three pay), with one of the recent exits dealing. Flop is dealt, I think I completed in the SB with Q-rag suited (spades), but flopped a flush draw. I check, the other two check and we see the turn, a rag. I check look over to the dealer before any more action and the river is out there as well (a non spade). I say "what is that 3 doing on the table, where did it come from?"

Dealer says, "it's the last card."

I say, "we haven't played the turn!"

"Maybe you weren't paying attention."

I get a little annoyed at that and turn to the other two players one at a time and ask if we are at the river yet. Both say no.

What do you do now?

I'll post what happened later.

  • Shuffle the river card back in to the deck and redeal the river once the betting action for the turn card is completed.
  • Take 4 quick shots of the nearest available beverage, and move all-in with confidence. An advanced move is to try accomplishing this while giving off a false the "bet with a story" tell.

In terms of a serious answer, I would shuffle the river card back in to the deck and redeal the river once the betting action for the turn card is completed.

  • This is exactly why a dealer should "knock" or tap the table before acting.

Maybe slow down on the booze? :D Wait, I'm the last guy who should be suggesting that!!!
    Get another round!!!

I was too drunk after the 4 quick shots to think of anything original on my own. ;)

  • Tell them they all suck, grab first place money off the table while walking out the door..
  • Well, I was sort of close. That would have been the way to go, but as it was, I insisted the river card become the burn card and we deal the next card as the river.

Naturally, the new river completed my flush and I won a huge pot - the button was slow-playing his AA.

He was Ok with it really, I think the BB wasn't so much, and as the eliminated guys from the basement came up asking about the story, I could see that it had been talked about down there (the one loud mouth fealt the cards should have remained as they were). I know none of these guys really played much, but I think the fact that I hit my flush made the story appear worse than it would have otherwise.
  • Doesn't sound like a very friendly home game.
  • Well, it wasn't unfriendly so much as a couple people with strong opinions as to what should happen, uninhibited in voicing their opinion due to alcohol. I was one of them, but at least I was the closest to being correct.
