Where is your "surrounding area".  There's members on here coast-to-coast, so you should be able to meet some members from your area.

Personally, I started on Score before moving into real money a few months ago (as did my wife and a few friends). It's not the best poker, but it's a good start and a great way to see lots of hands for free :)
  • Totally Agree.

Score really lets you hone your skills free, while getting you used too those bad, bad beats. But if you really want some action, make a deposit at Partypoker or Pokerstars. They have lots of LL games and run huge MTTs.

Be sure to check out the 'Home Games' section to find more live games in your area, or to post a game that you are hosting.

    Welcome to the Forum!!

  • Thanks Johnny, perhaps i'll look Brad up one day,
last night i came in second on a sit and go qualifier (Expedia.ca) on Scorepoker.ca.
what makes this more remarkable is I really had no business to get second, but then again.....

What does 2nd get you on Expedia and what can you win on Scorepoker?
  • Coming in second gets you nothing on the qualifier, winning a qualifier gets you a seat in the 1K free roll on Sundays.
  • perhaps i should explain my opinoin better, my piont on that topic was i was happy with my second place finsh in a 50 man sit-and-go qualifier( that particular one) because i really had no bussiness geting that far.
I have made the sunday final 750 man tourny with my best being 47th.
this is just all practice and experience for my real money game that continues to get better because of these experiences.

Attaway. A lot of relatively new players mistakenly feel that good results at play money games = probable good results at real money games. It's nice to see that you are treating the play money games as practice.
  • Yeah I agree when I first started I played with play money for the first year and by the end I was dominating sit and go's and started thinking I was all that but I seen very quickly that I was in over my head when I switched to real money. It took me a few months to adjust to the real money game thats why I dont think its too wise to spend too long playing play money, if I would have switched to real money after a couple months instead of a year I would have lost my bad habits alot faster. Also with 1c 2c blind tables at some sites its a great way to learn the real aspect of the game.
  • You hit the nail on the head with the bad habits of a play table to real table transfer.
if you play smart, and god on play table it will not carry over to real money.
    Why, you ask...
well real money tables have different types of players(not that there are not on play money tbles)so you have to adjust again.
i play my cards, not my stacks in real money sit and go's
and ring games it just the style you play.

  • By the way, keep up the good work on pokernightlive, All_Aces. I enjoy your insights.
Good Luck at the Blue Water Classic! I'll be playing through you because my wife, well she just wont let me sign up for it.perhaps one day ill be there. :as
  • TYVM for the kind words. I'm glad you like the show.

Unfortunately Point Edward did not go as well as I'd hoped... I have posted details in the B&M section of this forum, and they are ugly.

I am going to pm you a link for a free $75/$100 for online poker. Pls, never go back to a play money table. You can build this money and move it to other sites if you like.

    Welcome to the forum. :)
