Flops with the same suit

Hi Dave

Do you happen to know off hand what the percentage is of flops coming with at least 2 cards of the same suit? This came up in another thread, and I always wondered what it was. Not the odds of one specific suit, but of any of the suits?

Thanks

  • Assuming you don't know what your hole cards are (ie. you haven't looked):

    Chance of a 3 flush flop would be: 4 * 13c3 / 52c3 = 1144/22100 = 5.1765%
    Chance of a 2 flush flop would be: 4 * 13c2 * 39c1 / 52c3 = 12168/22100 = 55.0588%

Thus the chance of a 2 or 3 flush flop hitting (ie not a rainbow flop) is a little over 60%. Someone correct me if my math is wrong...
  • Thanks man. I thought that was the case - a slight majority of flops come with 2 of the same suit.
