ROgers digital cable (CH 288)

anyone here have rogers digital cable?

go check out channel 288 if you have it. its like 18 hours a day of poker, old games new games

the rest is crap like PEI bingo, and casinos of the world shows. of course poor method of learning poker, but very entertaining to watch the old guy dressed as austin powers and washed up english soccer players throw away their millions :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • It's been around since Nov.
Most of the programming is sub par except for Poker Night Live :D
  • forsomeone like me who is new to poker, its pretty cool. but yeah, i do notice some of the shows suck

like the one which commentates on random online games on a powerpoint projector for an hour.
  • ROFL.

It's OK, the show's not for everyone.  ;)

And, it's not a powerpoint projector.  That is the actual feed of the screen going directly to air.  Give us SOME credit, will you?
  • Hi

I am new to the board, and new to poker, but in any case, I am going to cut up the moderators own show in one of my very first posts! It was either that, or make a post about how:

    a) Hitler would have been a great no-limit poker player,

    b) I was in Saskatchewan and I heard the worst radio announcer ever! or,

    c) poker is for nerds who can't score with the ladies and were too dumb to learn bridge (a real ladies game!).

LOL! Hey, I am just joking man - but foot-in-the-mouth disease always makes me laugh/and cringe at the same time. All_aces is probably the nicest guy you could ever hope to inadvertantly diss, and like all others on this board, he welcome new poker players with open arms. Don't sweat it.
  • P.S. Hey devin, can you bring the powerpoint projector home and give me and Bill some lessons the next time I come over! I can't play small pairs to save my life (always folding when they were the best and getting beat with them when they are not...).
  • Al, you kill me. So does the idea of using a powerpoint projector in broadcast television. But, if you'd like, I will try to find one to help out you and Bill.

BTW I answered your question about small pairs on the air, and mentioned that I know you and that you play in my home games, and then I lied and said that you win a lot.

I have it on PVR... I'll show it to you next time you're here.
  • Devin, I would have gone with a more retro feel, kinda old school.

Somefin like etch-a-sketch for the ring games and lite bright for the sngs, all whilst wearing some Pony kicks and a throw back jersey.

  • Dude - I might have to come to the next BIPC just for that! I am dying to see your show!

BTW - now that Bill has your DVD - when someone chumps out first at the WSP games, he's thinking about giving the DVD to the chump for the next two-weeks as a helpful tool. I know its low-limit for ring games and we play no-limit tournaments, but hey, someone might actually use your knowledge about poker to try and improve! Amazing! So yeah, what you are thinking is right...I am so going to own him. Thanks!

And damn, I almost forgot. I was watching American Idol with my wife a few weeks ago, and then this guy who had bought Paula Abdul's learn to sing DVD got booted off the show, and then he went outside and smashed the DVD with a hammer. Swear to god, it was high comedy. But then I saw a guy come out of Fallsview with a hammer and a DVD, and then I stopped laughing. There was nothing to laugh about...the bastard wasn't at my table!

    Let the Flame War begin......
  • If people starting flaming each other, it will start to feel like the Fullcontactpoker forum.....
  • Nah, no flaming here... the show is what it is and people will like it or not. I knew it wouldn't appeal to everyone from the get-go. That being said, I'm having a great time doing it, and I stand behind most of what I say on the show.
  • I really like the show all_aces, I've seen it about 5 or 6 times and the weird thing is every time I watch it you are on and not Tony.

The only thing I don't like is the cards seem to move very fast (sometimes so fast you haven't even made your comment about them) and the colour scheme for the on-line poker site you talk about, but those things are minor and don’t really cause me to stop watching.

    Keep up the good work.

    Welcome to the forum! :D:D:D

  • I watch it religously (man I luv my PVR)

I agree with Chris, it would be nice if there was a way to slow down the play a bit. That way there could be more commentary on the play that is going on.

  • Thanks guys.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) the speed of the show is part of its "hook".  I guess it keeps all the action junkies out there from getting restless.  What I am trying to do is to ignore hands that are pretty self-explanatory, or hands in which nobody really has anything and nobody's really doing much with it.  During these hands, I talk about more interesting stuff.

At least, that's the plan!  It's not as easy as you might think... I'm not saying I'm trying to do the impossible here... but it ain't easy lol.

BTW the other host's name is Johnny, not Tony.  ;)

My next episodes will air tomorrow night and be repeated Sat. afternoon.  We shot them last night.  The first one is a little ridiculous... me and Tina were already feeling a bit giddy for some reason, and then there were problems in the control room at one point, and we were asked to "stall".  We stalled for as long as we could, and eventually I ended up doing a light show...

Maybe this discussion should be continued in the original "I'm hosting a new poker TV show" thread in the "general" section.  That way, other viewers who might check in with this forum every now and again can participate as well.

    Thanks again guys.
