question for newbie
Sorry, this may be a really stupid question. I recently started gaining interest in poker and decided that before I go out and play that I would try to obtain as much information on the game as possible. So I read books, the internet ect............ Now this is my problem, I recently mouved to Russia where it makes it harder to play and learn at casinos due to the language problem, also they seems to play differently here. Instead of playing at a table againts other people you always play againts the dealer (that includes in games of holdem and 7 card stud). Is it worth play only againts the dealer, am I just waisting my time cause all the info that I read are for when you are playing againts other peoples at a table. Hope you understand what I'm trying to ask and Thanks for you help.

If you are, in fact, simply playing hold'em then you are playing heads up hold'em and all of the usual comments/debates about poker will hold.
Thanks for you time.
Sounds like carribean stud to me. Or some variant of it. Either way, it's not poker.
I am sure that if you look around, you will find that there are russian casinos which have real poker. I remember on that documentary (I forget the name of it, but it followed some tournament players around, and Hellmuth made an ass of himself) that some of the european players played a tournament in russia (at least I think it was russia). Of course, russia is a big place, so I don't know if there would be any casinos which offer poker in your area. If not, the online option is always a good one. Pick your favourite site and go with it.

If there is no betting, raising, calling and folding, this is not poker. Also, if the dealer doesn't look at his/her cards while the game is going, and is using no strategy, this is not poker.
This sounds a lot like the table game "Three Card Poker" which, despite the name, is not something that I would call poker.
If so, this has nothing to do with Holdem. A description of Three Card Poker and optimal strategy can be found here:

In contrast to actual poker, Three Card Poker (along with similar poker-based table games) is *not* a game that a player can beat in the long run.
