Rounders parody

I found this link on RGP...  if you're a big enough poker geek, you should find this amusing.

  • That's pretty damn good. And damn I'm a poker geek...
  • I should of listened to the "Dont have a drink" warning while reading this. Damn funny.
  • My favourite part... "Michel" is talking about the time he walked into the Casino des Atlantes and saw Marcel Luske sitting in a lowly 50/100 PLO game:

Michel: "Right, okay, but seriously, I played for an hour, doing nothing but folding. Then I won a huge pot."

Joey Croissant: "Aces? Kings? Ace-King doublesuited? Suited aces? High connectors? Middle doublesuited connectors? Two big pair?"

    Michel: "Rags."

Joey Croissant: "That's probably fine too, you're only like a 48/52 dog."
  • I particularly liked:

    Michel: ...And then he looks
at me and says, 'I have to know. Did you have it?' And
    I said, 'I'm sorry Marcel, I can't remember.'"

    Joey Croissant: "Face!"

  • OK, I'll admit it.

    I don't get it.
  • "Face!" is a short form of "In your face!".

Maybe it's only funny to me because it was an expression I actually used myself way back when I was young enough to think that such expressions were cool.
    I don't get it.

    Face!

  • Law Prof: "I am a Jew" i almost pissed myself, its so out of nowhere
  • ahaha marcel would never fold though.
  • that is hilarious...this forum might be alright
  • Michel: "Boy, I sure hope my 5:4 edge holds up,
otherwise I am going to die."
  • That was another great line. We are poker geeks. Imagine trying to explain to somebody who doesn't play poker why "Boy, I sure hope my 5:4 edge holds up, otherwise I am going to die." is funny.

Paul Phillips rips the movie pretty hard, and so do we, but all kidding aside you have to love "Rounders". Sure, it's flawed in many ways (for example, it is overly dramatic) but it made me want to play more poker. I imagine it had the same effect on a lot of people.

    So did "Finding Nemo" :fish:
  • Alright, I finally have to chime in on this. Paul Phillips did not write this parody.
Paul Phillips posted this parody of Rounders on his blog (not written by him) that, like the Aristocrats joke, you need a little knowledge to really get how funny it is.

  • Oops. It's still pretty damn funny though!
  • Funniest thing I've seen in a while...but then again the Dennis Leary roast is tomorrow so...
