patience pays off for once
I've taken the original post off, I was loaded after a bar run and pissed off when I wrote it. there is a reply for mdsÂ
stpboy I value your comments, I will remember them
and yes Jim is a good player it was rough to see him taking the beats he was taking, always getting severely out flopped I think it just took a toll on his play because his moves were perfect for the situation they just never seemed to have the right outcome. the table was rather unpredictable and the cards were falling rather bizarrely. also your right on my comments to the dealer I was whining to him like a poodle on a leash near the end and he shouldn’t have to deal with that.

For you to say that you are done with West Side Low Limit Tournaments because the players are so loose and so lucky, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I can undestand how getting beat by an inferior hand can upset you but for someone that understands odds as well as you do, you should know that more times than not playing in these tournaments will be a +EV. Your example of playing with patience actually proves what you need to do in this type of game and the fact that you won $300 is yet another reason for you to continue playing. Again though, I can understand from an enjoyment stance why you wouldn't want to but from a money making stance it really doesn't make sense. If you are playing to win money why would you want to play with "good players" all the time. You do need people who consistently chase cards and have poor hand selection....to win money.
Another couple points, Jim is a great player and a great guy. It's always nice to see him.
I watched that cash game for a bit and saw you give the dealer a hard time. Again, I understand that people get upset during poker but I never think it's appropriate to take your frustrations out on the dealer.
stp
When I was there yesterday, the following hand played out.
100/200 blinds, I am shortstacked and thinking about doubling up or rebuying.
2 limpers to me in the BB, I check with K8o.
Flop: 7 5 2 rainbow or some such trash. I make the standard "this shitty flop MUST have hit my hand because I'm the BB" play, and push all-in for 1000 or so.
Folded to an LP player who thinks for a bit, and then calls me with QTo. My hand held up.
Who doesn't want to be in that type of a game? Even when you bluff, you're still ahead of hands that call you.
That being said, I also played against some really skilled players. One guy in particular who I beat with my TJ vs. his AA was very skilled, and while it sucked to bust him (or close to it) in that way, I was glad to see him go.
i saw you come in late. i busted out before the break and didn't hang around to chat. nothing worse than getting to the river 85+% favourite and losing. especially when you can do it twice in about an hour. ain't poker great?
i'll be busting out of the freeroll shortly, i expect. online or live, westside is rigged
You know what I hated MOST about the WSPC event yesterday? The little rat shit whiney prick Patrick Parent who just thought he was our gift for the day. You were berating everyone, telling them how badly they played EVERY hand, and how their poker life sucks.
You are a whiney ass jerk off who I hope I never get the "gift" of playing again. I was glad to leave the table when I did, only because I knew I would never have to hear your verbal diahhrea ever again. And what happens? I come to my favourite poker forum only to see you have spread your wisdom and advice here too. Poor forumers. I hope your stay here is brief.
To all the others I played with yesterday, you all had class and respect for each other, we had a great time shooting the breeze (in between Patrick's advice columns) and overall I enjoyed myself. I am just so relieved that Patrick is the exception here and not the norm. He is the only jackass that I have met from the forum, and for that I am very grateful.
Sounds like I should have been playing the cash games downstairs after the tournament... they must have been entertaining!
Out of respect for Sloth and the other moderators of this great forum, I held back alot of my true feelings.
And I gotta agree with MDS on the verbal diarrhea quote.
Choice lines that had me either laughing, rolling my eyes, or shaking my head: (begin sarcasm)
Ya, loose games are a nightmare. I love a table full of rocks, those guys just love to give their money away.
Stealing off super-loose players... Reading their oh-so narrow ranges of hands... You rule.
Everybody knows a loose game is just bingo. Completely impossible to beat calling stations.
Idiots. How can you beat a game where you might have to adjust your play to the other players? It's madness I say, utter madness! The rest of the table should be adjusting to your style to give you all their money right?
Those idiots don't realize that poker is more than a game, and as such, bad beats MUST be taken personally. When the guy calls your allin preflop reraise with 22 vs your AA, and rivers their 2 outer, how do they NOT realize that this is testamount to saying: "I had sex with your mother the other night, what a dirty, dirty skank. Best $5 I ever spent."
Someday these idiots will learn how to play, and then you will enter the golden age of poker, when you can NEVER possibly lose...
(end sarcasm)
Either way, looks like you're making lots of new friends.
Great post MDS.
I haven't laughed this hard in a while
Fantastic.
Has anyone noticed that he has posted no response at all?
To the original poster: Dude: modify your game against crazy loose people. You either tighten up or you play their game. People suck out. Loose people suck out more. Lots of loose crazy people suck out lots because you can't get them out of a hand. Quit thinking your the 2nd coming of hellmuth "i'd win every hand if it weren't for luck".
To MDS: If that's what the tourney was like I'm glad I missed it. However I did get a large chuckle out of your post.
No, that wasn't how the entire tourny was. Westside throws a great event and this was no exception. The tourny was very well run and had some very good players. Just look through the field of attendees, All Aces, esool, Magithighs, and many other very talented players. I guess with talent comes class, because I didn't hear any one of those guys complaining about anything. Only Mr. Patrick Parent.
If you haven't had the opportunity to play with Happy420 before, I highly reccomend it. He is a very entertaining character to say the least.
Amazed to see all responses, I have to say I appreciate some of the comments while others just seem a little anally retentive
hell MDS if you had such anger for me I figure you'd be happy I wasn't playing the cash games there any more. any way seek help man because a pole that long and stuck that far up your ass should need to be surgically removed
acidjoe what can I say, every 1 in 3 post I see up here is yours so I understand your anger at me venting on your turf appologies man and to anyone else that takes offence there was none intended.
oh and I want to reiterate that the tourney was professionally run, west side tournies always run very smothly I would recommend them to anyone playing the game I was merely venting
Pat you are the biggest cry baby in poker I have ever played , I'm sorry it had to be said. We all have shitty runs and good runs with cards, and since your not a professional poker player your no better a judge of everyone else's poker skills then anyone else on this forum. I think you should apologize to everyone on the forum for being an ass.
BTW you owe me a new license plate!
River Mike
"i can't beleive an ace high won that"
"well pat...you did play king high to the river....."
Really? I thought he said "Get bent"? I'm not sure what gent you're talking about...Mr. Burns maybe?
What I hate worse though is being at a table full of good poker players. I hate that shit.
Sure wish I had read the original post before it was deleted..
