What would you do??
Okay,
If you were a college kid, and had $200 CDN to invest in poker or sportswagering, obviously that probably only be $145.00 USD, would you invest it in sports wagering online or poker?...
Now here's the scenario, your a very tight player, you have some general knowledge about poker... how much could you expect to win sitting at lets say a pokerstars $2/4 table playing tight and say sitting for four hours?

Depends on which you're better at. My intuition is that it's easier to get an edge at poker, but I'm no sports buff by any means so I guess I wouldn't really know.
It also makes a huge difference what you mean by:
Does this mean you simply know the rules of the poker, and have been cleaning out your pals at the kitchen table game? Or that you have read and have a fairly thorough understanding of "Winning at Poker" by Scharf, "Winning Low-Limit Holdem (2nd Edition)" by Jones, and "Theory of Poker" by Sklansky?
Well, for one thing, I'd recommend playing cash games at PartyPoker over PokerStars. (However, PokerStars is the place to play for tournaments.) I've found the $2-$4 at PokerStars relatively tough. Relative to, of course, other $2-$4 games. 8)
You can't really even talk about a realistic expected win for playing only 4 hours. My long term win rate at $2-$4 is about $4. The key words there are long term. If I was planning on playing 4,000 hours, I'd have some confidence saying I'd expect to win $16,000. If I was planning on playing 4 hours, I wouldn't have the foggiest.
As for a 4 hour session starting with $145, I wouldn't be surprised if I busted out. I wouldn't be surprised if I was up $200. I wouldn't be surprised if I was up $16.
Variance, not expected win rate, rules a 4 hour session of poker.

i guess depends on if you're better at poker or sportswagering?
From my perspective as a recent Graduate I will tell you that whatever you do... do not play limit poker! Take some No Limit Tourneys if you can for $50 or $100.
I find that when playing limit games, you will have tons of people chasing their hands to the river. Although this can also work in your favour, your bank roll is limited. All or nothing in NL is the way to go.
Although I do recommend two more options:
1) Dump the money in a penny stock.
2) For some real risky moves, Purchase some options.
Play 50c-$1, or better yet, play at a site that offers 25c-50c.
Starting with only 36 big bets, you have a VERY good chance of going broke at some point, no matter how good you are. If this is really ALL that you can invest (ie you won't be buying another $145 if you bust out) then 36 bets is really very little. You could lose it in a few hours, even if you are playing well.

I played Pro-Line when I was 14-17. I think I lost nearly $800-1000 CDN OUCH
but gained it all back in 4 months of poker.
For serious sports betting, I think you're going to have to get set up with a Vegas (or similar) sportsbook, or go with an online book.
