Kudo's to Amazon

I'm sure most of you have ordered books via Amazon.ca Recently I had placed an order for some books for the first time.

It had been a couple of weeks since I ordered them, so I decided to check out the online tracking to find out where they were. Much to my surprise, it showed that Canada Post had delivered them already. Needless to say, I never received them, and I tried to get ahold of Canada Post to track them down. Didn't know at the time that you have to Amazon to do the tracking.

Anyway, long story short, I sent Amazon an email saying I never received the package. I got a very apologetic email back moments later (not hours, not days, but MOMENTS) saying how sorry they were and that a duplicate package would be sent out at no cost immediately.

Within two days, I received the second package at my door, complete, along with an invoice for zero dollars and yet another 'sorry for the inconvenience' message.

I was quite pleased with the service I got from Amazon, especially since I had no idea about the process seeing as how I have ordered anything online before. Prompt service, genuinly apologetic to my circumstance, and almost instant action. If you have never ordered books from them before, I encourage you to give them a try. Great service.

ps - i still haven't rec'd the first package. Guess I can't say the same for Canada Post, huh?

  • Amazon is the place to go for CD's, books, DVD's, etc.

I like to order like 10 things at once. By the time the package shows up I always forget what I've ordered.... it's like a bunch of Christmas presents from someone who knows exactly what kind of stuff I like...
  • I used to order from Chapters/Indigo, but I haven't regret switching to Amazon. Their CS is much better than that of CI, and prices tends to be lower too. I got TOP and another book hopefully coming soon.
  • I've ordered from both Amazon and Chapters and have had excellent results each time. I've never waited longer than three days for a shipment, and the free shipping options are awesome.

Personally, I really enjoy the whole milling around the bookstore, hoping something catches my eye experience though, so I don't use them as often.

    Cheers

I hear you, I like to do the same, but unforunately Chapters has a tendency to overstock any "new" (ie. cashing in the poker craze) books and refuses to stock any "classics" (ie. anything by 2+2). I think the only poker book I actually picked up at chapters was SS (and that took them forever to get). Although recently I've seen copies of HoH (which is excellent) in at the local one, but I'd already ordered both 1 & 2 previously. Actually, I think I picked up Moneymaker's book there too, which isn't so much a poker book per se, but a bit of a bio involving poker. A fun, light, enjoyable read for sure though.

If you like the 10 day wait experience, order items from the Party Poker store using your points. You'll get them so far into the future, something will arrive at your door and you'll spend 15 minutes trying to figure out if it's a mailbomb or not.
  • I don't know about all chapters, but the one next to silvercity mississauga has a few 2+2 books now...I saw Theory of Poker, Small stakes holdem and Harrington on Holdem 1 & 2.
  • Are you still getting mailbombs BBC? I told my people to stop sending them ages ago. :D
  • I just did a case study on Amazon for one of my digital enterprise management classes. Interesting way they reward their loyal customers - they jack up the prices. That's right, is you've been buying a lot from them, other things of the same category will go up a few points if you're browsing from your account. Still, the service and selection is unrivaled.
