Utorrent - Rogers - Question??

I have a general question about downloading speed using Utorrent with Rogers High Speed. I am currently getting speeds of about 15kb/sec. I am using port 1720 (as suggested in another post). What other preferences should I check to get my speeds up significantly? I am using Windows XP (if that makes any difference). I am new to this bit torrent thing so any assistance would be appreciated!

  • That works for me, I get total download speeds of 50-250, it varies alot. Any individual file's speed will vary on the number of seeds for the file that a re available when you are downloading, more = faster.
  • thanks GTA Poker. Is there a way to find seeds for a specific file or search for seeders if they were not attached to the original file? What port do you use and is it only at this high speed for a limited time? my speed made it up to 50kb/sec but it is way down again.

  • You are automatically connected to seeds (uploaders) when you download. There is no way to search for seeders, but when you are on sites to download the torrent, they will most likely show what is the % of seeders to the % of leechers, so you will be able to get a basic idea of how fast your download will be.
  • I use bitcomet, and after going through their FAQ of how to get the best speeds I was able to get 300kb/s on popular downloads.
