Fox Sports Net Poker Tour??

This whole WPT and WSOP Forum needs to add the Fox tour too!

Last year they had great success with the Showdown at The Sands in Atlantic City. This year they have started basically a whole new tour of 10K buyin events in Casinos across America.
Started at the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas a few weeks ago.
Our boy Danny Negreanu took the first one for those who missed it.
Since they didnt hype these tournies up yet only 68 players showed up to compete so his top prize was a meazly 320K.
Anywho, I have heard about two other events that have been announced and will also be filmed by Fox Sports just like the one at Plaza 2 weeks ago.
If you recall when the WPT started up, they basically took major tournaments from around the world , signed agreements and turned them into tour stops.
This tour or whatever it is being run by the guys at Fox Sports is very different. They seem to be making up new tournaments all with 10K buyins, at casinos that, in the past, have had no poker exposure.
They sure are saturating the market, but hey Im a poker fan so I can't wait to see.
I have heard they are looking at a 12 tournament trail, but it seems they are just making the deals with casinos and authorities now. I cant seem to find any solid confirmations on these future tournaments but one thing I know for sure, they are popping up fast.

If anyone knows more, let us know!

  • Sounds great, Kev. I like the Showdown at the Sands, although the audio is terrible. Really, really bad. The mix between the three announcers, the players, and the tape pieces is all over the road. But, I don't really care that much because I, too, like watching poker.

The last two nights there has been 2 one-hour episodes each night back-to-back on Sportsnet. Hopefully, it continues.

Kev, would you ever consider buying in to one of these events? Would anyone here? (Besides Dave...) Obviously, some of us would play satellites, but would anyone just go ahead and buy into one of these things? 10K USD?
