Cheque's...

Hi,

Was going to make a withdrawl from one of my poker sites, however I'm wondering if anybody ever has recieved a cheque from the pokersite i.e a PartyPoker or PokerStars cheque and had it accepted and not too much fiasco at a Canadian bank?

I dont really mind waiting the month so long as that is usally it.

  • long time ago before i netellered, I got a cheque from UltimateBet. Bank accepted it, but put a hold on it to clear (not because it was gambling site, but because it was a US-issued cheque)
  • No major hassles, just the month to wait for it because it is a US cheque. I think Money Mart or another store similar may NOW cash US cheques day of, if my memory serves me well.

    stp
  • It would be a faster process just to open a neteller account and link your checking account
  • The first two times I cashed-out I received cheques. Not a problem at all at my bank. Took a bit long to receive (a week or two), and then the bank would hold it for 5 business days for it to clear. And you also lose out on the exchange rate. Other than that, if you're willing to wait, it shouldn't be much problem.

But as suggested already, if you plan to cashout/deposit quite often, you might want to look into Neteller and setup an US account.
  • When I use to get checks from Pokerstars they always came in less than a week. They issue their checks out of Ottawa if I remember correctly so you don't have to wait the ridiculous amount of time for a US check to clear, just the 5 standard days.

Yeah, PokerStars issue their cheques in Canadian currency also. Where as party and pokerroom (the other two I've received cheques from) both issue them in USD
  • yeah i've gotten them from pokerstars... never any problems
  • I've gotten cheques from Party, it took about 2 weeks to arrive but my bank cleared it with no problem, just the usually delay of 5 Business days.

or open a neteller account and apply for a neteller debit card. you don't even have to link to your bank anymore. any atm will do.
  • No problem with either the ones from Pacific or Trident. Sometimes I get a strange look especially with Pacifics but I've never had a hold put on them either.
  • I used to get cheques but it takes some times up to 3 weks to receive, my bank only held them once because i brought 2 checques printed the same but for some reason they showed diferent banks. Now party has my chequing info so my money is in my acct within 2-3 days
