    mininova.org

i find everything i need just using those, but there are tons more

i recommend utorrent as the client, i just downloaded it and it outperforms anything i've used previously -- you'll see links for it on mininova

you need a dvd burner, the rest is pretty straightforward
  • I personally prefer BitComet, tried a couple (not utorrent tho) and find BitComet the best one so far. Maybe I'll try out utorrent one day.

Bit torrent will download files (usually in a zip format) that can be burned to DVD.

thanks guys, for utorrent, are there specific settings that have to be set-up for rogers high speed? the software doesn't seem to download any of the files I have tried? the only thing I have done is change the port to 1755 as this seems to be suggested on some of the help sites. Any ideas? much appreciated!

  • If you've got a router, don't forget to forward that port to the PC you're running the client on.

I'll second the receommendation for Utorrent. I just recently started using this, and cannot believe the speeds I'm getting!
  • If you're using Rogers BitComet may be the best choice, not sure if Utorrent will allow you to enable encryption but BitComet does and you will need it enabled as Rogers throttles torrent downloads. They cannot throttle encrypted packets. As for sites, the top ones are mentioned, I also like torrentreactor.net
