Poker Chips

Hey everyone my name is Dave and I'm new to the forum. I am wanting to buy some chips and was wondering if there is a specific colour combo I should stick with or is it ok to change up the colours? Please let me know, and I can't wait to start playing in some games.

  • there are some pretty standar colours for chip values out there.

    $1 = white
    $5 = red
    $25 = green
    $100 = black

any denominations over that are usually up to whatever the hosts have available.

    Just some thoughts dave.........

What stakes will you be playing?
    Will you be playing tournements?
  • It will depend if you are looking to use these chips for tournaments or cash game. While chip colour tend to be interchangable, it is common to see white as $1, red is $5 etc. And if you're running cash game, you might load up more on the white, where as tournament you will need a wide variety.
  • Don't buy chips with deominations already printed on them. They really limit you in the future.

I think Homepokertourney.com may have good suggestions. They are a great resource.
