Moose in Vegas Day 4 - Mon

Ok last full day in Vegas. Still full from the late night buffet at the Rio last night so off to play poker until we get hungry again. Sat down at the Strat 2-4 again. Bad luck continued, after 4.5 hr me down $107, MM down $49. Yikes.

Mid afternoon so off down the strip to the Mirage to the Cravings buffet. Watch the times for the buffets. Plan to get there just before lunch ends so you pay the lunch price and eat until they start putting out the dinner items - usually they just add crab legs and jack the price $5-$10. Cravings is supposed to be one of the best buffets. It was ok. Service was great and the food was good but not super amazing. Weird thing I noticed is that they had a 'Raw' section but nothing in that area was raw. They had cold shrimp and crab legs but no raw items. At least other than to get in, there weren't really any lines to wait for food. Grabbed a bunch of cookies for late night snacks and off to the Mirage poker room.

We sat at the 3-6 table and played for 2 hr. Me up $21 and MM up $37. Yahoo. First time we both walked away up. First hand of note (my second hand on the table): me 46s on button, 5 limpers so I call. Flop: 664. Unreal. Checked to me, I bet. BB calls, everyone else folds. Checked to me, I bet the turn, he calls. On the river he bets out. Hmmn? I raise, he raises, we go six bets before he finally gives up and calls. He rolls over...46o. Wow.

Another hand of note: me KK, capped preflop (that's 5 bets in Vegas) and ended up heads up. Flop was all low and again we capped the flop. He bet into me again on the turn, unfortunately by now my luck had been so bad I was convinced to still be betting into me, my opponent must be on AA. Called him down the rest of the way and he rolled over QQ. Did he think I was betting like that with JJ? I wonder how much more he would have been willing to bet.

Ok I wanted to play some craps before we left so off to Casino Royale across the street which had $2 craps with 100x odds. I heard the Royale is closing. I will miss the cheap craps. Anyways with my poker losses I didn't have the b/r I wanted to play craps anymore. Decided to play only 2 numbers at once and take 5x on 4&10, 10x on 5&9 and 12.5x on 6&8. Got in a spot where I was only 3 rollers away from the dice. Once I got the dice I hit my point twice and also hit 8, so people were pretty happy with my roll. Decided it was time to go, up $57.

Back up the strip now to the Sahara, decided to use MM's BJ coupon for $50 in chips for $40. Only problem was, this time the cards were cold. We split the chips and walked away vowing to never play BJ again down $20 ea.

Over to the poker room and we sat at a 2-4 table. Managed to tilt off one of the locals who acted like the table was his personal gaming room. Mostly because I was outplaying him. He made a big mistake in changing seats putting me on his right (he wanted to sit next to his wife). I could see his tilt meter going up as my pile of chips grew. Once he tried to embarrass me by tipping the dealer an extra buck on my winning hand. I just quietly tossed a chip back at him. Sahara only runs a single $2 blind so once I tried to be nice to him and avoid tilting him more by not attacking his blind and just folded my A10s face up from the button. However it would prove fruitless. The final straw for him found me playing K10s. The flop was checked and a K came on the turn and sitting with top pair and no previous raises to this point, I figured my kicker was good. I raised his bet, he just smooth called. He bet into me on the river, so I just called and he rolled over his slow played AK. I said, "Nice hand" and went to muck my cards. I scanned the board one more time before releasing them and realized I had caught an inside straight. I flipped my cards up instead and declared "Straight". I realize it looked like I was slow rolling him but that was not my intent. Really, if I had realized I had caught the straight I would have raised him again. It served him right anyways for trying to trap me with his big slick. He was furious. He scooped up his remaining chips and left.

Finally the cards were hitting me and after 2 hrs I was up $102 but MM unfortunately was down $48. Grabbed a couple of meal comps on the way out and headed home for the Stratosphere around 1 am. 4 day total now me down $128 and MM down $89 with 38.5 hrs of poker in. One day left...

Similar thing happened at the 3-6 table I was sitting at Turning Stone during the Christmas trip. The guy had 10J and board was 10QKx with Ace on the river. The flips over AK for flopped two pair..the guy with the 10J proceeded to say nice hand and was about to muck (but does that double checking card things everytime he mucks a showdown), and then said "whoops...i had a J...straight".
