Royal Flush - What are the odds??

I finally got around to teaching my wife how to play NLH over the holiday break.  After about 20 hands in, what does she end up with, a Royal Flush!  Having never come across a Royal Flush before, and considering it was her first time playing poker, I think the poker gods are on her side.  Anybody know the odds of a Royal Flush with only two players? Cheers.

  • According to oddschecker.com (poker.oddschecker.com), the odds are 1 in 649,739.

I have no idea of that's accurate - but it's what I got from a Google search.
  • cheers! pretty amazing considering first time play. The only problem getting a RF the first time you play, you will probably never see it again.

I think those are the odds of a RF on the board. If you factor in your hole cards, the odds should be much better.

I think if you factored in that it was her first time playing, then it is almost a guarantee

You're right - apparently, if you hold Ad Kd, the odds of Qd Jd 10d flopping is 19,599 to 1.

It's amazing the things you can find when you are avoiding doing any work.
  • What are the odds of 2 brothers each getting a Royal Flush in the same casino, almost exactly 1 year apart?

    Brother- Jan 1, 2004
    Me- Jan 2, 2005

My one and only RF ever.

But now I am looking for The Unit special, (A-5 sooted) it pays waaayyyyy more. :D
  • I've had 3 royals...... One unfortunately I folded pre flop :as :ts and folded to a raise re raise all in before it got to me so I bailed pre flop, the other payed off nicely has villian had 8 9 diamonds to my AK, he hit the straight flush to my royal. Aimee has had one royal and I've seen one at Brantford (dude held just the A) with a 10 J Q K sooted board. And one hit at the training room with two AQ suited battling with one hitting the royal. I used to think it was very rare but I guess if you play lots of poker you start to see lots of hands.

  • I've had 3 myself, 2 online and one at Lucky Lou's... Saw one in Niagara on New years Eve at my table. I was not in the hand...
  • OPPPS hit another today in a sit and go. Was worried tho had the royal draw (already had the nut flush) and I thought my bet would chase the other 2 out. One stuck around and allowed me to hit it.
  • I was in one at Rama on New Years eve... I held QTh and limped in late... BB raised with AKc. Flop was Qc Jc Qs, turn 4c, river Tc.... imigine the chips flying

    Ouch!

jeez , i guess the royal flush is pretty royal then... i've yet to see one on party poker yet... only flushes that aren't royal.
  • Only hit it once, sit and go, I remember the suit, clubs I believe. I think it was slick, but regardless I somehow managed to get two guys out. Didn't win the tourney though, but got a bit of scratch.

Folded a few - would be straight flushes lately. Yar

  • Witnessed my first RF last night on Party. I had folded preflop, flop came up AJK all hearts. Turn was the 10. Betting was very timid at this point, three players in all checked. River came up trash, first to act min bet, raised by next player, third player raised, called. Raiser had the Qh!!

His total pot I think was less than $5!!!
  • I was playing a $50.00 heads up match with a buddy to burn some time and this is what happened.
We made our bets and the flop came :ah :qh :kh then a round of bets the turn came :jh we both couldn't believe almost a royal flush he had the :5h and I had the :6h he went all-in and I had the larger stack and called the river came and it was the :10h we both couldn't believe it a royal flush and almost in order. Has anyone else ever seen this???

that beats my story. At least you split the pot and now you can say you had a royal flush before :D
  • I was amazing and I won the $50.00 later on lol :D
  • Ive never got a royal yet but came close a few times.
