Poker at the new Fallsview Casino?

The new casino in Niagara Falls opens this weekend. I was by the falls a few weeks ago with some family and the place looks pretty sweet. It actually looks like a casino, and they have definitely pumped in a lot of cash to make it look swank. (And who doesn;t love swank? It's the name of a fine porn magazine, a fine looking actress, and a name for things that are stylish. Gotta love the swank.)

Anyways - I am wondering if they are going to have a Poker room in the new casino. Preferably a large one, that won't require lining up for hours to get a seat...

  • Unfortunately the website doesn't seem to have any information on what games they have.
  • Yeah I checked the website too. It's seems the web master's mandate was to crank up the swank! In his excitement, he forgot the important information.

I did hear rumours of a massive poker room at the new casino though...
  • This is awesome. I have cousins in Niagara Falls and it would be nice to go and check this place out. What is the website you guys are talking about?
  • well, if you're willing to dip into your winnings, i know they're going to have a good sized starbucks there to keep you awake for long hours of gambling.
    <-coffee eyes

Saw a few articles too about the opening, but nothing on what table games they are offering.

  • Nice man. It does look pretty "swank" as you stated eariler. It is opening in a few weeks?

I received this response today from Casino Niagara:

    Thank you for your e-mail.

There are no plans to offer Texas Hold Em at Casino Niagara or the Niagara
    Fallsview Casino Resort.
  • This is bad news because I go to school about 20 minutes from the Falls. I'm pretty sure I can resist going there too often though.
  • Damn that sucks. Ah well, I am, still going to go with my girl because playing a long session of Poker is not the best thing to do on a date anyways...

I'll just have to go on a tear at the craps tables instead! Seriously, I love poker and it will always be my number one game, but craps is a lot of fun, especially if you are drinking and partying it up with some babes. One time in Montreal (awesome casino there, awesome city!) I went on an unbelievable run, I swear I must have held the dice for at least 45 minutes. Probably hit the puck about 10 times. It was insane, the whole table won a serious amount of dough, I think I was up about $750, and that was betting very conservatively. This dude standing right beside me, won at least 3 or 4 grand. He wouldn't even turn around during my run to look at me, but I could hear him talking the whole time, "c'mon shooter, c'mon shooter..." After I crapped out, I received a huge ovation, and pretty much everyone left the table, two guys even took me over to the bar and bought be a bunch of drinks. Good times!
  • What kind of casino does not offer Hold'em!? Can we even call it a casino?

Why wouldn't they offer the most popular game around :?

    No slots either?

  • They are too busy filling the space with the more profitable games around. For a casino, a poker room is less profitable than just about any other form of gambling. Of course, if they allowed actual cardrooms in Ontario, I'm sure there would be tons of people who think that a poker room is "profitable enough" to run, but I don't really see that happening any time ... was going to say soon, but "ever" is probably more accurate.

Who can tell us when the poker starts??

    LOL

I heard they're devoting an entire floor to poker, with smoking and sunglasses allowed, over 100 tables, no rake or time charge, Dave Scharf will be the poker room manager, no "confusing" betting lines on the tables, free food for players, you can get on the waiting list or sign up for tournaments by phone, American money accepted at par, ultra-high security cards which are unmarkable even by the average fingernail, micro-limits down to $0.10-$0.20 and high roller action games to $100-$100-$100 no-limit, string bets are allowed as long as no actual string is used, split pot between Ks Jh and Qs 8d on a board of As Js 9s 4s 3d (aka the "nut flush rule"), various kill games where the kill is activated by someone hitting a 2-outer or worse and the kill post amount is the entire pot, sevens full of dueces jackpot, and a free set of 300 chips for all registered pokerforum.ca members.

It's just what I heard though.

If you could see through my computer monitor into my room, you would have seen me literally rolling on the floor laughing my ass off a moment or two ago.

OK, not literally, but pretty damn close...

Other than this email response I received from their customer service a few monts ago (back in March, so it was a while ago), I've heard no substantive news that there will be a poker room in the new Niagara Falls (Ontario) Casino.

    Have you heard otherwise?
There are no plans to offer Texas Hold Em at Casino Niagara or the Niagara
    Fallsview Casino Resort.

Am I the "leper" here? If so, I guess I'd better get that checked out. 8) Seriously though, I was joking in my response to you (CanadaKev) because I actually interpreted your post in the vein that you were joking. Sorry if I misinterpreted it.

    ScottyZ
  • really?
    no not joking at all.
i heard they most certainly WILL have poker

That's cool then. I hope so!

  • This is from recpoker.com, from a poster named Aces n' Eights:

"The station I listen to on the way to work is doing a live broadcast from
the grand opening of the new Fallsview Casino at Niagara Falls. Apparently
it is quite "magestic". He likened it to the "Ceasars Palace of Niagara
    Falls".

Anyway - They had an interview with the CEO. He stated that although they
DO NOT plan on opening a Pokerroom in Fallsview (he gave the standard
reason that it does not generate as much income per square foot of space
as table games/slots would), they ARE going to build a poker room at
Casino Niagara. Unfortunatly, he did not give a timetable as to when it
    would be open."

A poker room in Casino Niagara would do just as well, I think. No idea when it will happen, though.

  • OOOOOOH well

I am going down there for the weekend with my girl....and I was hoping to see some poker.

    Where's this Seneca place?
  • This save me a trip to the Falls this weekend. I was going to go their with my friend for his birthday, specifically to play poker. I guess I'll just stick to the Brantford Casino this weekend...
