Dick Hertz

It was nice to see Dick Hertz playing in one of our SnGs yesterday. He was head to head (final 2 players) when I was called away and I never did find out how it finished. Great seeing you again Mark, good job in the Tournament.

Cheers,

Lee

  • Mark is an extremely nice guy, and a talented player. Not so sure about his username, but you know... ;)

    Congrats DH.
  • LOL I had to pleasure to go to The Soaring Eagle with him and some others 4 years ago. He taught me a little about Omaha... thanks for the lesson Mark. Super nice guy!!
BTW I placed 8th in that tourney making a whopping $400 and change which I later lost to the ROCKS at 10/20 there. My game has since improved immensely...Good to see ya back in the ring pal..

  • Thanks for the kind words guys.
I had heard that the structure of the 1 table  freeze outs at the blue heron had been changed to allow a little more play.  SO I decided to head up there last wednesday to check it out.  THe structure is much better......Im not just saying that because I got heads up....lol  Nice job Lee!  YOu will see me there more often .

Pokerkid.......I cant beleive that was 4 years ago.  That was a fun trip even though I got my ass  kicked in the live games.
Ya I'm back in the ring on a  part time basis.  I made a deal with Tina(my wife) after my son was born 6 years ago.  THe deal was that I would stay home with the kids while she worked and I could play poker (on line, at the B&M, and go to the occasional tournament) when she was off.  I would do this untill I either made my millions or my kids were both in school full time.  Well I didnt win a million and my son started grade one this sept.......so I had to go and get myself one of those job things.
Working full time dosnt give me much time  to keep up with the forum of even play online anymore.

As for the results of my heads up play.

I had a 4-1 chip lead and blew it.  I had played perfectly the whole tournament.  was never all in without the best hand and made it to heads up with the chip lead.
I blew it because I lost patience.  My opponent seemed to be a very passive and obvious playing one.  I knew that all I had to do to win was keep the pots small and grind away.  I didnt want to get alot of chips in preflop unless I was a big favourite because I could slowly take all the chips just by limping in on every flop and betting if my opponent checked.  Thats how it went for 45 mins.  LImp..opponent checks...I bet....fold.
I then for some reason decided to call a preflop raise with Q9s.
Flop comes down 8s 10c Ks    Certainly a nice flop for my hand.
based on the pre flop raise I felt my opponents hand was  a small PP or some mid to weak ace.  SHe didnt seem interested at all in that flop but if my read was right she had the best hand at the momment.
I decided that I would bet enough chips to put her all in approx 100.  If she called and I lost I would still have a small chip lead on her.
She thought for a momment and called with A 3 off.
Nice call!  I dont know if she knew that she had the best hand or if she just got tired of folding to me on every flop.
TUrn card is a Jack......Bingo for me.  Straight to the Queen.
RIver Queen.     OUCH that hurt.  Straight to the Ace for her.
Well that pot was the TSN turning point in the match.  SHe started raising preflop more often and  I got the sickest run of 9 2 off type hands I have ever seen in one 1/2 hour span. I think I won one pot after that.
I had fun anyway and will be back.

I always enjoy being SPANKED by a woman.
  • Mark, did the two of you work out a deal so 2nd got some ca$h at least?

What is the starting chip count?
  • 40 chips   ( 2 purples and 20 blues ) Purple = 10, Blue = 1
