Hello All

Alright... I'm new to this forum... but not to poker. I live in Cornwall, Ont... a short drive across the border to the Ahkwasasne Casino where the have a very nice Poker Room... not huge be any stantards but well run and very 'lively'

I run a home game with about 8-10 regulars every couple of weeks.(usually 3-6 with a short tourney near the end of the night). Ive got a home made table and those ever abundant striped dice chips. I've customized mine with .75" round Avery labels. A neat little homemade logo run through the ink jet printer can give your chips a great look for pennies.

You can see a pic of my chips at...

Yes.. that's my poker table under the cards... I'll post a pic as soon as it gets recovered. Just finished a basement recroom and the table is going to get a new burgandy 'felt' to match.

Anyway... glad to see a Canuck board for poker... Go Flames!

  • Very nice man and welcome to the forums.
  • Hi there!

I occasionally head to the Akwesasne casino myself. It's the closest casino poker action to Ottawa.

As for "well run", I'd say this depends a lot on who the supervisor on duty is. I have seen floors ranging from excellent to piss poor, although on the whole, I'd say it's mostly okay, and not even super intrusive when bad. The dealers are generally all at least good, with quite a few who are very good.

As for "lively games" that's one way to describe it. :) Another way to say it is I've seen someone crack my Aces when the board comes down AQ9o 5 3 and I get shown 24. And this is not all that bizzare of an occurance. 8) [Note: that's not meant to be a bad beat story, it's meant to be a "look at the kind of fish that swim here" story]

For people who know Brantford, I'd say their $3-$6 is probably a softer game most of the time than most Brantford $5-$10 games, or at the very least, it's pretty close.

Nice looking chips for your home games too!

You say this like it was a "bad" thing.

  • No, MickeyHoldem's self-labeled dice chips that everyone is raving about ITT.

Not sure about the raving... but those chips have long been retired... or lost in divorce settlement... lol
  • Too bad. It will forever remain a mystery to me, like how to win on Pokerstars.
