What are pitfalls to avoid in running a poker room?

Looking for pitfalls to avoid in running (1) a poker room and (2) tournaments. We all have pet peeves and things that make us never want to return to a poker room or tournament , whether it be rules, lack of consistent rulings, lack of table offerings, bad or slow dealers, etc.

Can I get some advice or ideas on how to run a fun and popular poker room? How about some ideas to keep em coming back for more?

Thanks.

  • hoes, lots of hoes...

    ...and some hoes
  • Inconsistancy in the rulings has to be my biggest pet peeve (for both cases).

My next biggest peeve is if a tourney is supposed to start at 1..... start at 1..... this BS of we'll wait 10 more minutes we've got players on their way.... ohhhh just 20 more is crap.

    Competent dealers are always necessary.
  • Please know how to balance the tables as players are eliminated from the tourney.

Oh yeah, and some hoes! (Is this the correct spelling?)

Hi Joe, well run tourney on the 26th, but do you recall this peeve of yours?
  • lol yes I recall the pet peeve.  It's still my pet peeve.  I do try and get things started on time.  And I thank those who weren't coming due to the weather that e mailed or phoned.  That allowed me to modify the list.  I am sorry for the delay in starting my tourney.

Now I've played at a few poker rooms where they announce a 8 pm start time and come 9 pm you still haven't got cards in the air. One club which I think is gone delayed the tourney for over an hour and then cancelled. I think a club should be more organized than that.
