getting cold cards

i was wondering what do u guys do when u guys do ... when u guys are getting cold cards in tourny situation ??
say ur doing fine in the begining but the after the first break ... ur cards starting to turn on you ... how do you protect your chips from being blind out

Cards aren't the be all and end all in a tourny. This is when you move your game to another level by playing the players and not the cards.

(Ahem, for those of you I play with this is just advice, I ALWAYS have the cards)

I am not the resident expert here but if you make a steal attempt once and a while and you get caught, it can setup a trap later on. Plus if you are playing very solid, you likely won't get called anyways depending on how your opponents play. There could be a calling station out there, who is very hard to bluff.

Pay close attention to your stack size ralative to the blind structure.

Harrington Vol. 2 is a excellent resource in terms of when your stack size dictates that you are under pressure to play weaker hands, and when you can simply wait out a run of cold cards.

Don't overplay marginal hands in marginal situations.  After starving for a hand, these marginal hands will look like monsters and it's a sure fire way to go broke real fast.

Look for good situations, and don't push too hard.  Catch a bluff here, steal a blind there and you'll be amazed at how quick your stack grows.
