  • What are the max players in these?

Is the blind structure listed somewhere?

    Thanks
  • Hey GTA,

I'll guess you are asking about the SNGs. The game is NL Hold'em with the field limited to eleven players and each player issued 40 chips

The blinds will start at 1 chip small blind and 2 chips big blind and will double every 11 hands (after 11th hand has posted both blinds). The blinds will be capped at 10 chips small blind and 20 chips big blind. The button will be determined by card draw; high card will be the button to start the Tournament; in case of a tie first high card will decide the button.
  • Great to see the higher stakes! :)

It was way too hard to get a seat for the $50/$100 tournaments before.
  • Nooooooooooooooo, was asking about the full tournies...
  • Sorry GTA,

The first one will have 88 players and the balance will have 110 (we will have 2 more tables 1st of February approx). Blinds double every 20 min, player break every hour, blinds after the break stay the same as before the break for 20 minutes then double again and so on. I'll pm the complete structure to you tomorrow night when I get back to the Casino.

    Cheers,

    Lee
  • Lee:

I looked at the site. I like seeing all the tournaments.

Any chance you can have some satellites for the 1K buy in for the December Tournament. I would love to see a $220.00/230.00 single table with the top two getting a seat!
  • Ok, cool, thanks Lee, I'd love to see the structure.
  • so the SNG structure is

    1/2
    2/4
    4/8
    8/16
    10/20

    Is that correct?
  • Hey guys,

    To answer in order...

We will be running satellites in Nov. for the $1K TofC in December...format will $200 single table last 2 players will win a seat (11 players, we keep $200 and $2K pays for the 2 seats)

You're welcome GTA, I start work at 10:00pm tonight, I'll pm the structure to you shortly after that.

    You've got it Joe.

To make it clear, the higher limit SNGs will start the first Wednesday in January 2006

    Cheers,

    Lee
  • Any chance for some regular no limit games other than the tournaments like what they deal at Niagara and Fallsview?
  • Hey PopKorn,

I'd love to run a couple of NL games daily but under existing legislation only the Commercial Casinos (the 2 Niagaras,Rama & Windsor) are permitted to run NL games, Charity Casinos are limited to a max of $100-$200 to coincide with the maximum allowable bet in the Casino. We are lobbying seriously to be permitted NL games and can only wait and see. I'm very thankful we are allowed to run a $500 and a $1000 Tournament and will now press on for NL games.

    Cheers,

    Lee
  • Hey Lee, didn't think I saw anyone with that tag today(nov 16) played in the new rules of $50 tourney, it's perfect, although I didn't win it was still fun......
  • Hey luckystrike,

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I've been on nights for the past month and start on days next week. Look for me...ask Dave Scharf, I have a scary resemblance to my avatar :D
  • LOL yer tellin me :D
  • Hi Lee
I used to be a reg at GBH and played almost all your tourneys in 03/04
Any idea of when GBH will be non smoking?
I'd love to come back but hate the smoke
    SOS
  • Hey SOS,

Not really sure, we're adding 2 more tables early in the new year, have heard buzz about more non-smoking tables in the entire Casino but nothing concrete yet. Sorry :'(

    Cheers,

As I understand it, all buildings no matter where they are in Ontario will be non smoking come May 31st, 2006. That would include Casinos.
  • It would be nice if there were some freezeouts other then the $1k event at the Blue Heron, any thoughts on this GBH? I understand the premise behind re-buys for Casinos, I just prefer freezeouts myself.

Wouldn't casinos prefer freezeouts? I mean for rebuy tourney, it will be pretty much X number of table for the first hour and a half, but with a freezeout, they will probably lose a table or two depending on the field by the time a rebuy tourney hits the end of rebuy level. And the players that get knocked out, will probably not go home, but probably either hit the bar, go play other games or sit down at another poker game. Thats just what my thinking path leads me to think. But I'm sure I'm going down the wrong path.
  • freezeout vote right here!
  • Another freezeout vote here!

I'm sick of watching people rebuy like 5 times in the first hour and then all the guys that pick up pocket aces in the first hour become chip leaders.
  • Hey guys,

None of our monthly Tournaments are freezeouts, even the $500 and $1000 events in 2006 will have two rebuys and one addon as opposed to the rest of the 2006 events which will have unlimited rebuys in the first hour and one addon at the end of the first hour.

Let me give a bit of background first ... we started our Tournaments in 2002 more than anything else as a thank you to our players, hence the buffet every break and the welcome gift to every participant. We have 8 tables available that limits the event to 88 participants ... we are a Charity Casino and that limits the maximum buyin to $200 (we will run 2 higher buyin events in 2006 as a promotion that requires a separate approval)...the rebuys and addon help to make the prize pools bigger and therefore more attractive.

There is no argument that a freezeout format would make us more revenue by allowing us to have "live games" up much more quickly, but we have taken the approach that Tournaments are not about the revenue (no matter how you assess it, we would make more money that day without the Tournament) but rather for the players. By far the majority of our players prefer the larger prize pool; while I understand there are implications to bankroll and so on, but with the rules the same for all players, there is no difference in the level of competition just a larger prize pool to divide up.

We will be adding two more tables to the Poker Pit in early 2006, there will be a new and larger GBH built in the next few years with a much larger Poker Room and significantly more tables. In that environment we will be happy to run both freezeout and rebuy formats. Now if enough players approach me with ideas and we are in a position to implement them we are happy to do that.

    Cheers,

    Lee
