well, I think I officially give up.

For the past week and a half I haven't been able to do anything at the tables.

The majority of the time I don't hit the board. Not just the flop but all of the cards. I've sat there and pressed the fold button for 40 mins straight ... on 2 tables. I can't seem to catch a card to save my life. When I do hit and I get a pair, someone catches a bigger pair. If I get 2 pair, someone catches trips. If I get a flush, someone catches a higher flush. Sweet, I caught a full house. What's that? You have quads. Well what do you know, of course you do and hey, you caught it on the river ... again.

I don't know what's going on. When I start a hand with good cards (by good I mean, AA, KK, QQ, AK) and be aggressive, the board hits low or mid cards. If I try to slow play good cards then someone catches whatever miricle card they need. When I fold rediculous hands (oh I dunno, say 84) then the flop hits 448.

The only way I know how to stop the bleeding is to cash out and watch the games on tv.

Goodbye poker. It was fun.

  • Sorry to hear that Skittle. We all go through downswings and it's rough. I think the downswings are there to make you work harder to become a better player. However there is a lot of luck that goes on top of the skill element. I used to think that if you were a good player that the bankrolls I read about were rediculous. Now I understand why they are there. After losing 10 SnG's in a row with a ton of 4ths or having losing sessions in a cash game gets frustrating. We all go through it. Sometimes a break from the tables is what the doctor ordered.
  • Skittle. We all go through it. Take a break. Come back. It will be better when you play again.
  • Sometimes a short break is all you need.

Lost 15 SNG in a row..took a break of a couple oif weeks....Won 7 in a row more than making up for my losses.

    It's a long term thing.
If you love the game don't give up.

  • You should quit. Ya. Poker is rigged. Specifically against you.

Of course I am kidding. Get back up on that horse now.
  • And here I thought you were talking about Zithal's next big tourney. I can't get past the XXV-L button. Yes, I know they are past champions of XIII, XVII, XX and XIX but I dunno WTF goes in that box :rage::rage::rage::rage:
  • Yes, I know they are past champions of XIII, XVII, XX and XIX...

You've done the research. Now, just prove to that box that you've done the research.

  • You must be playing online on PokerStars.
  • Oh, Bill. Is Anthony catching his quads with 72off again?

Take a break. I went through a similar run of cards a few months ago. Oddly, right around the time I was laid off. I am doing a lot better now, though.

The box will have none of it. I probably haven't tried all combinations of Champs/Champions Bristol St./Bristol Street (with or without Classic) and the 4 roman numeral values but I'm sure I've tried most of them. If it is case sensitive, then there are even more to try. I'm sure I've juuuuuuuuust missed the right phrase. Or I could be off by miles :D
  • The thing that got me was the dashes....

'XXV-L' in the button. But when you enter your response don't enter dashes. Dunno if that's what you're caught on though.

    BANG!
  • Moose:

Should have been more specific....I used the more general term for WIN.....Placed in the $$$$ :D.

I will check out Titan though.

    Hobbes.
  • I was trying to be subtle. I wasn't going to come out and call you an "extreme exaggerator". :D
  • You mean that Poker players actually exaggerate..... :D:D:D
    I'm shocked.....lol
  • I don't know about poker players but I never exagerate.... everytime I raise utg for 5x the BB it means i have aces...... reallly.
  • Think of it this way.

At least you've still got your monkey.

    ScottyZ
  • I'll take that bet.
And when I come over the top I have the other 2.... :D
  • And the monkey thread makes it here.....lol
Poor guy is never gonna live this down... :D

Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape! !!!

    Sorry, had to be said.
  • Way to go Skittle... ya cursed me. 3 hours of poker tonight...

    AA cracked twice.
KK cracked twice (once by someone calling 3 bets cold pre-flop with Q6o!)
AK cracked twice after I caught an A on the flop.
Three trips cracked by two flushes and one runner, runner straight.
And two straights cracked by a rivered flush, then a rivered boat.

That's the last time I read one of your posts! It's cursed... cursed I tells ya!! If you're reading this thread, mark my words... give up poker for a week! You've been warned.

On the plus side, I got to watch someone at my table go through $400 in no time flat. So that kinda made the $120 loss on my end a little less painful. Still -10BB/hour kinda stung.

    Maybe he was bonus-whoring? :)

I got your warning too late. I got cracked more times last night than the window at a bean-eating contest. I think I should use my lowball starting hand guide for a few days :(
