B&M in Edmonton
I have been playing online since last summer, and am itching to play live. I was just wondering if anyone can share any information about B&M play in Edmonton. I believe it is $3/6 limit hold'em at the casino downtown, but I'm not totally sure. I'm also curious about the level of play as compared to low limit play on the internet. Any info greatly appreciated.

Welcome to pokerforum.ca!!!
Edmonton is a great poker city. There are four casinos...
Palace in West Edmonton Mall - 3/6 hold'em (my favorite hangout), and $25 NL tournaments Tuesday/Thursday nights
Baccarat Downtown - 3/6 Half and Half (1/2 hour of hold'em, 1/2 hour of Omaha Hi), and NL rebuy tournaments Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Casino ABS on Argyll - 3/6 Half and half
Casino Yellowhead on...well, Yellowhead - 3/6, 4/8, 8/16... lots of action! Mostly half and half.
I prefer straight hold'em, so I go to the Palace.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. Can you give me any idea about the quality of play.
I make about 1BB/h playing Party $1/2 limit ring games and cash at about 50-60% playing Stars $10 single table tournaments.
Is the play quite tight, or fairly loose? What would be a typical % of people seeing the flop in the $3/6 holdem game? Thanks.
Greg
Tight play will usually get you at least break even, but looser play will either get you big money or down a bit.
At Yellowhead, you will generally find at least 3 4-8 games. Again, you will find several good players in most of those games, and several very weak players. I find the action to generally be more loose at the Yellowhead, especially on Friday and Saturday night. It is not unusual to win $500 in 4-5 hours of play. I have also seen people lose $1000 in about the same amount of time.
If you are a winning internet player, you will not have trouble breaking even in any of these games. The good players will be easily identifiable, as will the bad.
Best of Luck
