Canadian Showing at WSOP

I was reading the list of players that cashed in the big one on pokerpages.com and there were quite a few Canadians in the top 100.

20th Robert Jarrett
23rd Jason Sagle
24th David Truong
28th Martin Feijo
46th Van Nguyen
94th Dave Scharf

It was funny, they had listed Dave as being from Sasquaton when I read the list a few days ago. It has since been changed to Saskatoon. lol

I was wondering if anyone knows any information about any of the other guys that did well. Unfortunately, other than Daniel Negreannu, I don't really know much about Canadian poker players. These guys must really be great players to finish as well as they did.

wonders if Sasquaton was meant to be some sort of joke

when i was checking it...a 404 error page came up...guess they were changing it then
  • It must be close to 3 years ago now, I was talking to Daniel Negreanu.
This was during the time when the first ideas came about of a World Cup of Poker. The US had a team made with Phil Hellmuth as the captain, and they were supposed to compete in a number of heads up games against european players.
Anyways I was asking Negreanu if he could tell me his Team Canada, assuming he was captain.
Some of the players he mentioned that i recall were
    himself
    our own Dave Scharf
    Bruce Van Horn
Randy Holland (this surprised me as i had no idea he was canadian)
Cant remember the others, although i remeber there was only 1 more player who I knew the name of, the rest were just some of the best players he used to play with in and around Toronto.

haha...maybe a few of us from pokerforum.ca will make up for the rest of the team
  • I just found out that Martin Feijo is from Brantford, or at least the surrounding area
  • The pokerstars cruise had a world cup of poker this year.
If I recall correctly it is a WPT show as well, maybe they axed that, but it was already played, both online and the top teams competing on the cruise.
This thing years ago was supposed to start up a world cup of some sort, but i guess all the delays caused pokerstars to steal the idea.
This american team was selected by Hellmuth and were prepared to play a ryder cup of poker in europe. I dont remeber it ever actually happening, but i remember seeing the list of US players selected, wonder, if i can find those archives...
