  • Hey Brent,

Looks great! What sort of arrangements are made for food? I've never played at your newest location so I'm not sure.

Also, you will have over 1 million in chips. What's the rule of thumb to when the tourney will end? If it is when the blinds are at 10% of the chips in play, you are looking at something like 33 hours of play in 2 days... Maybe that rule of thumb is not correct???
  • Brent, sign me up.

    2 things --

    1. this won't finish in 2 days, how long do you expect it to get down to 64 players with a one hour structure???

    2. Why is there a $400 buy in limit for a limit ring game (ok, so this isnt too important).

    Again, sign me up.

Again, I don't know where ther game is located.

    Dave
  • Brent, what the heck are days 3-7 in the blind schedule, or is that simply your cut and paste from the WSOP schedule? And I guess I echo GTA's question, when do you expect it to start and end on Sunday? Jeff...
  • Hmmm... I see a recurring theme in these questions.
  • As always some great questions.

I believe that it is possibly to end this in 2 days other wise we would have left it at three days. First, as much as I would like this to be a sellout, my guess is it won't be. I would love to have a 120 people, but I feel the number will be somewhere around 75 to 80 players. I have to plan on the big picture so players have an idea of what they are up against. Therefore I put things in place like we would like to be at 64 players on Saturday. Basically cutting the field in half. This number can be adjuested but all players will know prior too the first hand being dealt. The idea is players need to be ready to play for a long time. What I tried to do in the orginal post was give as much information as possible as early as possible. There will be final details and instructions prior to the start of the tournament and if I we need to make adjustments we will prior to the start of the tournament. If you are looking for a muilt day tournament starting with 10 000 in chips and 45 to one hour blinds, then this is the tournament for you. Prize break down will be done prior to the start of the tournament based on pre-registered guess and confirmed before dinner break.

As far as the food goes there will be food at the hall, and 1 1/2 four dinner break with guelph 10 mins. away and kitchener 12 min. away. If you have any questions just ask.

Ring games. The idea was to give people an idea of buy ins, things will be confirmed closer to the date.

There will be a security crew.
  • I sent you a email just wanting to join with my brother and brother in law.

  • As far as the food goes there will be food at the hall,
and 1 1/2 four dinner break with guelph 10 mins. away and kitchener 12 min. away. If you have any questions just ask.

1.5 hours for a break seems too long to me, especially if food is supplied there. I would prefer a 45 mintue break and get back to the game.
Having said that I haven't played in a 2 day tourney before so maybe my opinion will change once there..
  • Best way to estimate the end of this one is to use the 20BB rule. (ie. The tournament will end when there are 20-30BB's on the table)

    Looking at a few senarios...

    Min: 70 players =700,000 chips. 20BB's = 35,000

    Mid: 100 players = 1,000,000 chips. 20BB's = 50,000

    High: 144 players = 1,440,000 chips. 20BB's = 72,000

So...Assuming Day 1 ends at the 600-1,200 level, that Day 2 begins at 11am, and there are a grand total of 2 hours worth of breaks on Sunday, the tournament should end sometime between 2am and 5am, depending on attendance.

(BTW, I'm not sure what affect having 1 hour levels has on the ending level of a tournament, but I'd expect it to subtract a level or two off the end day as there's a greater chance to find hands that players are willing to go broke on . Perhaps 12am-3am is a better guess?)

(BTWx2) Sign me up! Sounds like a blast!!!
  • Sign me up please. It looks like I can play. Now if I can find a place to sleep..... I'm assuming I"m going to play on Day 2 and I'm assuming I won't be going home. But maybe I'll change my mind during the tourney at some point. HEHEHEHE......
  • Please sign me up Brent! Are there anymore tourneys before this event besides the November 12th rebuy?

    1) 20-30 BB rule : Something I haven't seen published, but a rule of thumb that I generally follow is that a home tournament will end when there's 20-30 Big Blinds sitting on the table. For example. We run a 80 person tournament where everyone starts with 2,500 chips. The total chips in play is 200,000.

    20 BB = 10,000
    30 BB = 6,666

So, I'd expect the tournament to end when the Big Blind is somewhere in the range of 7,000 to 10,000

    2) You've made it to my site. Congrats! there's a clue in my sig that tells you where to go next. The end result is the announcement of my next major tournament.

    I agree..
But wouldn't it be easier to just say, when the BB = around 5% of the total chips in play? :)
  • You have been added to the list Ron
  • Deal me in. All in!

    See you on Sunday.
  • Romer,

you are on the list thanks.
  • awesome Brent! i'm anticipating this one!

  • We gave 4 seats away Nov. 19th at our shootout tournament.  An annoucment will be made soon for an online satelite slated before the end of the month for a 10.00 buy-in stay tuned.

PS I want to thank those who have been asking how Cameron is doing. For those who don't know, I had to drop Cameron off at the hospital before going to set up for yesterday's tournament. He is still in ICU as of 2:18 am Monday. The nurse told me that his blood surger levels are starting to level off and he should be able to go back to a normal room on Monday.

    Brent
  • Cameron was released to a regular room this afternoon, but will have to be in the hospital until Wednesday
  • Cameron, GET WELL SOON BUD!!!
  • We added 3 more today and are up to 44 people. Keep those replies coming.
  • Thanks for those who have inquired about Cameron, he as at home continuing his recovery from his diabetes attack.

Second, I am waiting to hear from Lou on the satelite in which he has graciously set up for us at : www.paradisepoker.com

All the details will be posted as soon as I have them.

    Prophet 22
  • Lou,

    thanks for setting this up.

    Brent,

After a few e-mails with Paradise we've come to the following comprimise. I've set up a "free" freeroll on Monday. It's called "West Side". We need to have all players who want to play to transfer me $15 bucks and we can then give them the password (this will be PM to you) We then give the number 1 player a satellite, and number 2 a discount to the tournament for the remaining funds.
All players can g to the www.luckyloupokertour.com web site, to register.

If you are looking to win a satelite tonight is your opportunity.

    Prophet 22
  • I am now going to have to work that day. I can no longer make the tourney tho if it changes I'm in.
  • We need to have all players who want to play to transfer me $15 bucks
I'm assuming this is your paradise account - what's the screen name (not sure if it has spaces, etc.)
We then give the number 1 player a satellite, and number 2 a discount  to the tournament for the remaining funds.
What sort of rake (if any) is being taken from the buy-in?  If no rake, then it looks like a seat for every 10 2/3 players, so will 2 full seats (or more) be available if more than 22 show up?  If there is less than 10 players, is a seat guaranteed? Also, is the "2nd place discount" transferrable if you are not able to use it?
