Poker Books - Recommendations

I was wondering what books you recommended for Texas Holdem, specifically tournament play. There seem to a lot of books out there that spend the majority of their chapters on the basics of the game, with not much real content. Anyone have any books they can really recommend? Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Search the forum, there is a lot of good discussion on this topic. Apparently the Harrington series is excellent for tournament play.
  • As tournament books go, the Harrington books are clearly the best IMO.

Sklansky's TPFAP is also very good, and certainly worth reading.

  • The three books I think are essential to No Limit tournament play are:

Harrington on Hold'em Vol 1 and 2 - Harrington, Robertie
    Theory of Poker - Sklansky

    I also liked:

Making of a Poker Player - Matt Matros - has a good chapter on how to deal with an extended bad run

Anything else can be picked up from the forums IMO.
