Almost a New Year Tournament
takes place on
Friday, December 30, 2005 at 10:00 pm EST

Note this this tournament is on FRIDAY … NOT Saturday (like usual). We didn’t want to conflict with a quaint celebration called New Year’s Eve.

The cost:  Buy-in $10. Freezeout. There are no re-buys or add-ons available.

The game:  No-limit hold’em. This is a “deep chip” tournament. Everyone will start with 2500 chips and levels will be 20 minutes long.

Perks:  Special Bob “turniptruck” Jarrett bounty. Knock out turniptruck and you will get a free entry into Event #6 of the ParadisePoker Masters ($300 no-limit hold’em tournament on ParadisePoker on Jan 12, 2006). Bob gets this honour because he was the highest finishing Team Canuck Poker member in the last TCP tournament.

More perks:  ParadisePoker.com is, once again, placing a bounty on each member of Team Canuck Poker. Knock any one of us out and you get $50.

- In every other regard, this is an ordinary ParadisePoker tournament.  Payouts, etc will be in accordance with their usual rules.

HOW TO TAKE PART:

STEP 1:  Click on any of the ParadisePoker.com banners on this site. You will be taken a website where you can download the client software. [Note that the virtual pokerroom is not accessed from a website, you MUST download the software to your PC.]

STEP 2:  On or before December 20, 2005 click on "Tournaments" in the bottom left of the Lobby screen (the lobby screen is not accessed from the web. It is part of the client software that you have just downloaded).
STEP 3:  Click on the “Events” tab (third from right along the bottom)

STEP 4:  Find the "TeamCanuck" tournament (they are listed by date) and double click.

STEP 5:  Click “Register” at the bottom right.

STEP 6:  Click the "Register and pay buy-in" box. You will need to fund your account in one of the ways that ParadisePoker.com offers.

STEP 7: Enter the password “Canuck” (password is case sensitive).

STEP 8: Win first place, collect your money, and brag to your friends.

NOTE:   If you are not familiar with the ParadisePoker software then I recommend downloading it and playing in the free games prior to our tournament so that you are comfortable by the time of the Big Game.

I would have loved to play in Christmas Madness, enjoyed it a lot last year (i think i even made the money) ... i drove from north of toronto all the way out to kw for it.

but alas, i managed to choose the wrong 4 hours not to logon to the forum

You actually won your first all in to survive a little longer at the game played.
Your next all in I raised in MP with AJ and Bob reraised from the BB. I push and he calls with AQ and I am out. (or something like that)

I was actually playing a live game at my house and would run to the computer to play a few hands between hands..

I have, I believe, about half non-Canucks at my table ... just took a big pot ... at 5,030 ... 6th of 134 remaining (144 started).

All aces is in the Dominican and, again, it deploying the clever post and fold strategy to attempt to win the Banana Fosters bet. Bastard.

I have had a huge comeback from 2000 chips to 7,000.

Being a bounty makes it VERY hard to bluff. But, you get action with your big hands.

Overall, I'm happy with the way I played.
