  • I am truly humbled by yours & everyone's generosity. I do not have the words. My wife will be very touched. You have helped bring some relief & happiness to her at a very trying time. I hope that I will have the chance to return the generosity to each of you. (under better circumstances of course)

    Take care all
  • Woodman, words cannot express enough. I truly wish you and your wife all the best in your trying times.

Sloth, I must say, the generosity I see on this forum is second to none. I'm very proud to be a part of this forum, and I will be apart of the events you have organized to assist Woodman. This truly is a supreme group of people here.

  • I cannot make the first game but I am in for the second.  :ah
  • Excellent. The more the merrier. So far, I'll say that there are at least 10 decks of plastic playing cards, 20 DVDs, and 20- 1 year magazine subscriptions. more to follow.
  • added: some wilson turbo software
  • added: some poker academy software
  • Terrific!
  • Woodman, my thoughts and prayers go to your family and especially to your wife.  It seems that so many people are touched by this horrible disease.  To your wife, get Better!

Sloth, I can't make the first tournament and the second is doubtfull.  Can I donate some money to the cause?  Just let me know how you want the funds -- Neteller, or Stars transfer.

    Cheers
    Magi
  • A reminder that the first event is tomorrow! Please come out and show your support!

This is part 1 of 2 events for our friend Woodman. Part II. The second tournament will take place on the 21st of November and will have a ton of prizes for everyone who comes out including playing cards, dvds, magazine subscriptions and a lot more.

Where: www.supremepoker.com look under "multi tourney" - "special events" and you will see it there as "Woodman support"

    When: November 14th at 8pm

Registration begins: 2 hours before the tournament

    Buyin: $30+$3 registration fee.

    Prizepool:

    1st place: 35%

    2nd place: 25%

    3rd place: 10%

The remaining 30% will be going to Woodman and his wife.
  • I have been away from this forum for too long.

I will certainly try to make one of the two events. People close and dear to me have also been affected by cancer, so I can empathize. I would love to help support Woodman.

Woodman - You have no idea who I am, and I have no idea who you are, but all that is irrelevant. I have been through similar tough times and all I can say is hang in there. Never give up. Cancer can be beaten with treatment and pure will. I have seen it.

My best wishes, thoughts and prayers are with your family.

May your family find peace and health.
  • I won't be able to make the tournament tonight, but if anyone knows Woodman's email for Neteller, I will happily donate my entry fee directly to him.

My best wishes to your wife and you during this tough time Woodman...

  • Scotty, I couldn't get a hand like that EVER!!!! Unbeliveable!!! Thanks.
  • Only 2 runners for tonight's tourney. We agreed on a 50-50 split of whatever the prize pool was supposed to be.

After making the deal, I got severely outplayed during the Kamikaze All-in Fest when my all-in move with K5s was smooth called by A5, and IGHN when I failed to complete my backdoor flush draw on the river.

  • Unbelievable!! Now if that was a FULL table, it wouldn't have held up!!!

Sorry more players didn't show up, I was waiting for some fun tonight. Oh well, next game in a couple of weeks. Sign me back up!!

  • I am sorry at the turn out. I really am. I'll make sure the prize is divded just as it would've been a regular heads up, and will make a donation to Woodman personally.

Hopefully, the next event brings people out.
  • I'll make sure the prize is divded just as it would've been a regular heads up...

Since I technically lost the tournament, I'd like to restate that we actually agreed on a 50-50 split. :)

For next week's tournament, I'd suggest:

    1. Publicizing the exact prize schedule. It obviously can (and should) be based on the number of players entering, but I think people might be wary about entering if the prize payouts are vague.

If you need any help and/or suggestions with designing the prize schedules, let me know; although I'm sure you're the one with the best knowledge of the value/availability of all the prizes, the shipping costs, etc., maybe I could still do something.

    2. Start the tournament later in the evening. 8:00pm Eastern = 6:00pm Mountain = 5:00pm Pacific is generally a difficult time for people out west to play in a tournament on a weekday evening.

    3. Open registration to the tournament earlier. (Preferably at least 24 hours in advance.) In many cases, people know that they might be a little late, but are willing to register early and post-n-fold for the first 10 or 20 minutes. If registration is open for only 2 hours, this kind of plan is impossible.

  • about the next one, I can say there is a TON of prizes and everyone will walk away with something, but I can also say that the prizes will be divided amongst those who take part. The lowest possible prize is two decks of piatnik playing cards.

re: tournament start time, I agree, but you can never please everyone. Make it later, then it's too late for east coast...it won't make that much of an impact to push it back...as in this case, maybe it would've added a player or two, but doubtful.

re: registration window, I'd like to see it open earlier as well and will see what can be done.

prizes for the event on the 21st will be posted in full within 48 hours.

Yes it was a 50/50 chop agreed to. Hell, I'm just happy that I can now go around the forum and say "I BEAT SCOTTY IN A TOURNAMENT!!"

Believe me, that's all the feather in MY cap I need! :D

As far as Scotty's suggestions, they all make sense, but the start time. Don't make it too late for the east coasters. 8:30 or 9:00 pm EST should be late enough, anything after that is almost too late for finishing on a week night.
  • In terms of the start time, I agree that it's also a bad idea to push it too late. To me, something around 9:00pm Eastern seems best.

    ScottyZ
  • I don't think I can play the next one but I'd gladly donate the entry fee to the cause. Shoot me a PM with the details of where to send the money and how to do so (I only have Neteller, Party and Stars acct's) Woodman, my prayers are with you and your family at this time.
  • ok, here is the offical lot of pirzes for the 21st tournament.

1st place: 1 year allin magazine subscription & Wilson turbo software and set of 500 las vegas chips
2nd place: 1 year allin mag and Wilson
    3rd place: wilson software
next 12: World poker tour season 1 on dvd
next 15: 1 year allin mag subscription*
next 16: WSOP 2003 on DVD
next 10: double deck Piatnik playing card set

it's hard to set the EXACT prize pool without knowing the turnout obviously, but the '*' besides the magazine subscription means that field of prizes can be expanded to an infinite number depending on turnout.
  • Just popping in here to remind everyone about the event tonight. I hope to see you all there!
  • Hello,

I would like to register for this charity tourney.  Questions:

    1.  What time does it start ?  I live in the GTA.
    2.  How do I register ?

    Thanks.
