Favorite playing cards? (COPAG, Kem, Gemaco, etc.)

I regularly see discussions on here about which type of cards to use, and I was just wondering why everyone likes their particular cards?

I have 2 sets of COPAGs (one's poker size and the other are the EPOC special edition black bridge size), and for poker I must say that I like the regular poker sized ones.  They're easy to see, easy to clean, and they slide really well on hard surfaces (which works well for playing on your boardroom table at work).

Sooo... my question is, how do Kem & Gemaco cards differ?  What is it that makes some people prefer one kind, while others prefer another kind?  Are they all basically the same, and whichever kind someone uses first becomes their card of choice?

I'm just trying to understand the differences, since the prices are all generally in the same range.

  • My choice of cards is Gemaco's -- I believe that Rama uses these in their poker room.
I've never liked Kem's, and compared to Copag's I like these a lot more because they feel more dense and have more substance to them.

I have a set of poker-wide, jumbo index, and I will never buy anything else -- the jumbo index plays significant importance after a long night of drinking just when people start thinking they've flopped straights and flushes.
  • Hands down I like the Dal Negro Torcello's....not just because I sell them since I sell other brands too...but since I first felt and shuffled them..I literally fell in love with them. They are the thickest all plastic PVC card out there...if you check the advertising section there is also a link to a review from homepokertourney.com about them.

Have you tried COPAG/Gemaco/COPAGs as well, and the Dal Negro's are still your favorite?
  • I have never used the Dal Nergo’s However I have used Kem, Gemaco, Copag, Modiano, WPT as well as A-Plus. My card of choice is Gemaco. It’s not just because I sell them, because I do sell the others as well. I find that Gemaco 100% plastic cards have the best flex, thickness and texture. They are easy to shuffle and easy to deal do the there weight. They are a bit heavier then Kem cards which would be my second choice.
  • My preference is for copags...took some getting used to when shuffling them, but since then I haven't looked back.
  • Has anyone tried the Kems under the new manufaturer? If so how do they compare to the old ones? All I use is Copags now, the price is good and they're great cards.
  • YEs even after using the Kems and Copags...never tried the Gemaco's...the Dal Negro's are my definite favourite. They play and shuffle like a dream!!!

This is probably the biggest draw for me to try the Dal Negros... the heavier they are, the less likely they are to flip over while dealing. Hmmm... why do I have a feeling I'm going to end up spending a couple hundred bucks trying out different cards, hahaha.
  • my fav. cards.

    COPAG export, jumbo index
  • Gemaco jumbo index. Great flex, thickness and when playing on a big 10 man table it is easy to see from across the table.

    Rux
  • I set ups of Copags (peek and non peek), KEMS and Gemacos. I prefer the feel of the Copags. I like the peeks; only having to peel up the corners to see what you have but I think the full card when exposed is a little distracting and tough to read. I recently opened up my 2nd deck of Gemacos only to discover I was missing 6 cards! What a rip.
  • has anyone used the FTP cards that you can purchase with points?
