Trying to learn not to be weak-tight

Playing a 5/10 6 max cash game and a $55 NLtourney these just happened.  Insane?  Awesome?

I knew the BB in this one was not happy with me at all. I'd stolen his blind the previous lap as well and he took a long time to fold like he was thinking of making a stand with something really marginal.

  • I do the same sometimes with the Arag. If I think the player is capable of pushing in to defend with something like KQ KJ then I just call it off. Once I got the how can you call with Arag, I shot back, why did you push with K rag :P Its a play that can only be done once per table (unless the players are totally blinds). And heh @ who it was, FellKnight, I think hes pretty big on RGP.
  • You don't have to learn how not to be weak/tight. Some of
your opponents have to learn not to be weak/stupid. lol
  • Yah. Unfortunately (lol very fortunately) they don't seem to be changing and while they spew chips to eveyone else I've been laying down winners.
  • Well given that limit hand, you sure aren't weak-tight..

Heads up you are usually looking to get to the river with one bet per street when you hold marginal hards (Way ahead-> Way Behind).. What do you put your opponent on? With no reads and getting raised on the turn, I put myself behind but think the spade draw to the 6 is good. On the river when you miss, can you really call that bet? Give me a read that the guy is loose/bluffy and it's an easy call. Against an unknown featuring a small pot I want to toss it.

Also given no reads, I'd call the preflop bet, lead out on the flop or check raise the flop lead the turn and that's all the money I'm putting in with it. The check raise should get some respect from the unknown and he'll give up a weak hand. If he calls the turn you may have passified him to check the river and I think he'll only bet it when he's ahead and you can fold..
