Protecting your hand
OK... very freak "accident" last night while playing NL
I'm sitting in seat 5 last night, I raise UTG and it's 5-way action to the flop for $25 each... nice pot started. I check the flop, there's a bet of $75 from my left, a fold, 1 caller, and now the player in seat 9 folds, gently tossing his cards towards the dealer. He didn't fling them hard, nothing out of the ordinary.... but one strikes the dealers hand, bounces off and slides right under my cards. My cards are about 1 inch in front of my chips, and are covered by two chips. The 'tosser' quickly blurts out, "F#ck, sorry", the dealer is right behind with, "Oh, sh*t! ...FLOOR!!" I lean forward and look down at what was two neatly placed cards, one on top of the other, and is now 3 cards fanned out with 2 chips neatly centered over them.
The floor arrives and since everyone is still staring at my cards, he quickly asks, "Mike... why do you have 3 cards?" A quick explanation and the ruling is swift, "Dead hand!!" I almost start to protest, but the floor (who is now behiond me) sweeps the 3 cards... and looks! "Which 2 pieces of this sh*t are yours?"
I lean back to look... :kd :kc :kh "Does it matter?"
The flop was.... :as :9s :8s

What stakes was this? Can you get any kind of compensation for this? I would expect you are pretty far behind at this point and you've just lost one of your outs but what if you were holding :ks ?
