Heads up... Your cards don't matter too much. Play your opponent. If you see a weakness, attack it. If he's tight, push him around. if he's aggressive, go for a trap. If he starts to realize what you're doing, change what you are doing. Try to figure out his game plan and stay a step ahead of him.
Not as simple as it sounds.. If you're short stacked and your chips aren't very deep, your weapons are limited. Push push push.
I was heads up last night where my opponent had me out chipped by 5:1. He was an aggressive type, so I tried to trap him. I wished read this before, because he figured out what I was up to, and before I figured out that he had it figured out, well basically, he let me trap myself.
I think some advice from the Greatest book in the universe is very applicable here.
DoNT PANIC
One thing I have noticed is a tendency to overbet in H/U. Committing themselves to "all in pots" when pot bets will do fine.
If you have a stack that is m-20+ then you can be very flexible and play opposite of your opponent, be aggressive and coy... you have a multitude of styles available.
Omg!!!!!i played my best ever heads up game on sunday at the great candain poker tourney. the guy took out everyone fast at my table, so we were the first table to go heads up, he had like $25,000 in chips i had maybe $6000, i cant remember evry hand cuz there were lots , but i do remember playing very selective hands and even in teh smal bliinds i wouldnt play it if i didnt like it. made about 6 all in moves won them all, and after being the first heads up table we were the last table going, i chipped away and ended up takin him out. Everyone was shocked could not believe i did that too him with his lead, they had me written off. But i take pride in my heads up play, i practice that shit. You have to be vry selective , and wwho cares if you have to throw away ur small blinds sometimes, ppl will disagree wth me, but my strategy works the best i think.
kidpoker, were you that table in i think the 3rd game that got heads up super fast, were both sitting beside each other, and the cameras were all over you guys for like 10 minutes, and then the match still went forever? Sounds like it. I was watching from the sidelines and amazed at how long that match lasted.

Always important to remember to change gears.
