Poker tables
Anyone ever play on an octagon table that was 4 feet across? Is it too small? I'm looking at building one, but I'm stuck between a 4 foot or 5 foot table. I want a table where if there are 8 people they won't be cramped. Also, if I make a 4 foot table I can build a top that goes over the poker surface so it can double as a kitchen table. A 5 foot table is too big for that.

I agree.
My table is exactly 4' across, and it's pretty tight. Especially with a couple of big dudes. But, in my defence, the top was $50.00 from Canadian Tire and the actual table was $5.oo from a garage sale.
So, go for the 5'er. That way you'll have more room for drinks and such.
Please post a picture when you're done.
Good luck!!!

I'll be going with the 5 footer.
Here's a couple pics of the last table I built. Just sold it for 500. I didn't take a final picture with the legs and cupholders installed, but you get the idea.
