  • Some points..

    1) The players at sportingbet are amazingly bad. 9 to the flop, 9 to the river is the norm.

    2) Playing Pocket aces will never be the biggest leak in your game

    3) The only raise I dislike is the river, you only have one pair, likely not going to win against any hand that will call a raise.

    4) Yes you will lose with aces. get over it.

Well, it's a good thing they are bad..i'm trying to learn how to beat bad live players...besides, if I can't beat bad players, what good am I?

So everything was good, except the raise on the river? I figured I was up against a pair of jacks at best...is there any scenario where raising on the river with 1 pair makes sense?

These players are in like another universe of bad.. You won't experience games like that anywhere else on the internet. I warn because the variance of these games is tilt inducing.
.is there any scenario where raising on the river with 1 pair makes sense?

It depends :-).. Depends on the action on all the previous streets and the player types that are involved in the hand.
  • I agree with BBC just calling the river looks best. The rest is good.

when you are 5 handed at the river, one pair probably isn't the best hand
  • i dont think i can remember ever being 5 handed at the river :)
  • Couple thoughts...

    1. I like every street except the river raise. I call

    2. Im suprised nobody has said something along the lines of "You cant beat a 20cent/40cent game, everybody calls you dont to the river!" or "You cant bluff in a 20cent/40cent game"

one thing is for sure....It'll sure be tough to clear your bonus at this level?

Probably because this is a .10/.20 game... :D
  • Alright...so here's what i've learned...

    1. Barring any extraordinary reads (which im not even going to attempt to make), one pair on the river does not justify a raise, especially when not heads up at the river
    2. This type of thing will happen a lot at low limit and should be expected, nothing to get mad about
    3. Pairs in general should be played cautiously in limit and not overvalued

As for clearing the bonus, it's a $100 for 500 raked hands, regardless of the amount of rake contributed, so i'm cool with it taking a little while as I'm mainly aiming to learn limit anyway...
