Sorry about it. Quebec taxes on poker income ?

Ok I live in canada I found several posts about Canada policies on poker income. But I live in the quebec's province, they have their own taxes and I was wondering if online poker income was taxable on the province scale. I found on their site that "Lottery income" are not taxable but what about the other gambling area ? I googled it but didn't found any thread about it...

Thanks for the answers.

  • There are several threads on this. You are correct to point out that lottery winnings are not necessarily treated the same as other gambling winnings (or losses).

    Try either:

    1. The forum's local Search function for either "tax" or "taxes"

    or

    2. Google with the "site" modifier. That is, Google for (without the quotes) something like "site:www.pokerforum.ca tax"

  • I searched for it. The problem is you have 2 taxes here in quebec the federal taxe, and provincial taxe. I didn't find information on the provincial taxes for instance Quebec. I found a lot of posts/threads on the federal taxes, but none for a specific province. Do they handle it the same way ?
  • I'm not sure if it differs among the provinces.

My guess is that it does not. I would think that the Income Tax Act, a federal law, would be most relevant for determining what is taxable income and what is not.
