Nevada Jacks has brought out clay versions of their chips. The poker store in Calgary carries ceramic Nevada Jacks straightflush.ca. So if you ask, I'll bet they will import them for you. Otherwise you will get smacked in the face with the import charges if you order from Nevada Jacks direct. Verrry expensive. Nevada Jacks ceramics are $1 per chip so expect to pay more than that. straightflush.ca also has the Paulsen's clay chips - $1.25 or so per chip.
Cheaper to pick yourself up a set of 500 $1 chips from Casino Brantford.
Yes for $1 you will receive a $1 chip. It is clay and white in colour with a $1 sticker embedded in the chip - condition - slightly used. Bonus is the hologram that can be seen under black light.
Yes they can stop you....despite the fact that you trade cash for chips at the casino, the chips are still property of the casino and taking home 500 of them would constitute theft.
I would sincerely doubt that any 'clay' chips for sale at less than $1 per chip (cdn) are going to be real clay. At $0.20 per chip - Buyer beware.
Agreed.
I did not send these chips down to the "lab" to get a molecule breakdown but I can tell you they are not the crappy plastic ones of which I own 3 sets of. They are probably a clay composite of some sort, but they are far better than the ABS chips.
I opted to spend more money on a higher quality "clay" set as a gift for a family member.

Wow, then I'm a theif.....I walked out the casino once with some high value chips that I forgot to cash...anyhow, I went back the next week to play them and lost them....sucks! Just can't play limit poker...simply because there's is a limit....NL changes everything....you just need balls!

Hey Witchdoctor....
Actually, the casino prefers that patrons don't cash out. Think about it...the casino buys a sh*tload of chips for less than $1 each. They stamp them with $25 values on them. Players buy (or win) these chips for $25 each (profit for the casino = over $24/chip). If you cash them out, the casino has to pay you the stamped value, not what they paid for them. If you leave with them, the casino just made over 2000% profit!!! If a player takes a chip and loses it (drops it on the floor, leaves it in a sock draw, etc) then the casino never has to cash it out. And the casino has TONS of extra chips...why?....again, because they cost less than $1 each but could be "valued" at $5,000 each!
yah but who the hell in their right mind would take home a bunch of chips worth anything over $1??
lets say everytime i go to the casino i bring home 25 $1 chips.. it shouldnt be too obvious when u leave with 20 chips in ur pocket, or if your girl is with you her purse. that's only 20 trips to the casino for a nice 500 chip set. but for all that trouble might as well buy some paulsons. nevermind

And they're awesome! I love my set. I've had LOTS of sample packs, including real clays, and these are probably still my favorite chips... just waiting for my sample pack of these http://www.buypokerchips.com/clay-poker-chips-2.htm#inplay to see if I'm going to upgrade.
The paulson chips aren't bad (I love the sound), but they're not as durable as the NJ ceramic composites, and if you rub two chips together the colours transfer quite easily.
