1 pair beats 2 pairs
So I am at my usualy $10/20 Holdem game at my local casino, there are some new faces and some of the regulars here and while playing I have made some observations that the new people are playing somewhat tight.
I am on the small blind and delt 10sJs, UTG folds, EP guy calls, MP lady calls, LP guy calls and I decide I will try something new and risky...I raise it to $20. BB folds the guy in EP folds, lady in MP calls and so does LP guy. Well now I thought I might be in bit of a trouple here while thinking Royal Flush the whole time! Flop comes AdJc8h, D'oh! I check to see who has a hand and MP lady bets. The guy in LP folds and...this is where it gets fun... I raise from $10 to $19! NOT $20 yelling RAISE. Now at my local casino this is not allowed. This is called a string bet and you must either A) Call raise before hand If raising must have the full amount of chips out, you cannot put some and reach back into your chips to put more out.
The dealer polietly says to me; "Sorry sir, you cannot raise you are missing a chip". I put on my acting skills and reply "What?!? I raised it to 20! Doubled the $10!, I raise!" Dealer:"Sorry sir, there are 19 chips here which is not a complete bet" Me:"What? Oh really? Ok ill take it back" I procceed to move the chips to my stack then loudly say"Bet $20 blind"
All this with Jpair and there is an Ace on the flop! Which she bet with I am sure.
So the turn comes a 5 and the decision is on the girl. She takes a while to think staring at the board her eyes are a trying to figure out what I have. She knows I raised pre-flop and tried to make a check raise then I bet blind. She takes over 40 seconds when she says to me from accross the table: "Is two pair good enough?" My heart pounding I reply very calmly: "Yes it is, maybe you should raise". She then flips over A5 mucking her hand. She says "Two pair does not beat three of a kind"
I quickly much my hand and while stacking my chips I tell the lady: "You are right, 2 pair does not beat 3 of a kind. It goes High card, 1 pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 of a kind and straight flush"
The regulars at the table smirk a bit and she was a bit upset.
She left when the BB reached her.
I guess this is how 1 pair beats 2 pairs?
Oh, I also won some more chips from her before she hit her BB

Wow, that seems like a swell thing to say. Are we supposed to be impressed by this?
And you're an angle shooter too? Well done.
Nice play. I probably would have done the same.

And that was an invite.:)
Yes, since it's a post in which you describe making an angle shot.

It is mostly $5 red chips, and $25 green chips. But sometimes $1 whites and $100 blacks are put into the mix when there are not enough chips at the beginning.
When I bought in at the beginning they ran out of of $5.
