Vegas Report

I have just returned from my 1st trip to Vegas and here are some of my thoughts regarding the poker rooms, shows, restaurants...etc etc.

Restaurants:
Buffet (Luxor)...standard buffet. Nothing Special.
La Salsa (Luxor)...standard Mexican restaurant. Nice view of the lobby.
Luxor Steakhouse...the food and service was excellent. Very nice restaurant. (2 appetizers+ 2 entrees+ 1 bottle red = $150 US.)
Monte Carlo Pub & Brewery...food was standard pub fare, service sucked. (Servers were old and unattractive.)
California Pizza Kitchen (Mirage)...great pizza (huge selection), good service.
Olives (Bellagio)...the Bellagio website has this restaurant in their casual dining section. U can watch the Bellagio Fountain show from their patio. This restaurant by most standards would be considered fine dining. The food, the service, and the eye candy at the surrounding tables is top notch.

Shopping:
I have never walked so much in my life. My wife dragged me to an oulet shopping mall by the airport. We walked thru Mandalay Bay, New York, Paris, Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mirage, Caesars, Venetian, we walked the strip back and forth. I hate shopping. more than anything else in the world. I highly recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes w/ankle socks. This was my first purchase and it really paid off althouhj my feet were completely numb by Wednesday afternoon.
All this walking paid off as my wife would fall asleep at around 11pm each night leaving me to check out the poker rooms.

Shows:
Blue Man Group (Luxor)...These guys were awesome. Their band is also very talented. It was highly entertaining. The GM comped our tickets. I have no ideas as to why. The show is moving to the Mirage in October. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Shark Reef (Mandalay Bay)...Rip-off...complete waste of time.
Le Reve (Wynn)...very artsy...I didn't really understand everything about the show. It was like a Cirque du Soleil in water. The production and the music however was awesome. Great visuals.
'O' Cirque du Soliel (Bellagio)...same as above...I had too much wine at dinner and nodded off a few times.

I can't wait to go back to Vegas. Next time I am hoping to go with my buddies. Everything about the place is is just amazing. Even my wife commented that she has never seen so many attractive looking women b4 in her life. Overall it was a great experience. I highly recommend a trip to Vegas to everyone whether you go with your buddies or your significant other.

Poker:
Luxor...mickey mouse. They has $1 - $2 NL and either $2 - $4 or $4 - $8 Limit. However no one wanted to play $4 - $8 so I had to play $2 - $4. I played 4 sessions and one $50 NL Freezeout. Each session was completely different. One session was against a few dealers from MGM. They were all great guys who donated all their money to me. Another session had 6 regulars who lived in Vegas. One late night session had a pro from The Commerce in California who destroyed the table. She was a very attarctive Chinese girl who completely wiped out all of us. It was like playing against a female Matusow. She talked trash non-stop, she pounded back beers one after another...I should have left the table but it was like watching a train wreck...she won pot after pot...she seemed to get all the cards...it was very frustarting and yet very entertaining watching her bust about 4 players in about 2 hrs.
Mirage...lots of tables, lots of action. I played $10 - $20 and the table had really good and aggressive players.
MGM...same as above but they also had some hot waitresses. Blonds w/fake boobs.
Bellagio...It seemed top knotch...I only played a few hands as I had to see a show. I didn't register in time for a the $500 buy-in daily tournament on Tuesday. Pro Jim Meehan won that thournament.
Wynn...my wife took pictures of Negreanu & Lindgren who were taping a show. Off camera Negreanu is very animated and always smiling just like when we see him on camera. He seemed to really be enjoying himself.
When I go back I will definitely play again at the Wynn and MGM. The Wynn is absolutely beautiful.

Comments

  • How did you find the 50NL Freezeout?
  • Even my wife commented that she has never seen so many attractive looking women b4 in her life.

    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO NURSE!
  • The $50 NL Freezeout was well run...we were given $250 in chips and for another $30 we received a $50 add-on. The blinds started out $10 - $15 and changed every 15min. I came in 7th out of 20 players.

BBC...I'm not kidding...and I'm not talking about the staff at the resorts and casino's, I'm talking about the tourists.
