Rama's tournament June 14
On my way into work(Toronto) on Saturday I stopped by Rama to register for the tourney. It only took me four hours total! Luckily there was a waiting list to play at that time so I just jumped back in the car and headed to work..
Anyone from here registered for the tourney?
Saturday at noon there were only 30 spots left out of 110.
After reading all this wsop coverage and all_aces tourney results I am pumped for this event! 8)

I think I will read up on Sklansky Tourney book and Mike Caro's PT, and will register for either the July or August Tourney!
The 4 hours is including the drive from The Brampton area and back down to Toronto...
I only spent about 30 minutes in the Casino registering and did not play any cards since there was a long waiting list. I hate waiting.
Yeah, I will let you guys know how it goes after the tourney is finished..
I wonder if it's some kind of bizzare legal technicality, like you can't sign up by phone (or internet) because that would constitute making a bet outside of the casino. Or maybe they are simply prohibited from taking non-cash payments for gambling.

For instance, you cannot buy in/register for their July tourney now, you have to wait untill a couple days after the June 14th tourney.
This way they keep getting you back in. Otherwise most players would probably register for the July tourney at the June 14th game, but the casino does not want that...
Smart or just evil?
Have all the spots been filled up?
What time does it start?
Even if the tourney is all filled up, I figure I might attend and observe, and also there should be good side action?
Also, I heard it lasts up to 7 hours, and heard they may not create any side games while this is going on (because they are using up all the tables) and even if a table breaks, they don't want to have people disrupting the tourney.
Does this make sense?
I get it now...You can register from 10:30 on, and the tourney will start at 12:00.
Makes sense..
The day before the tourney I start preparing myself mentally..I read up a little, I play 4 sit n go's and I win or finish in the money 3 times. The one I get knocked out early in, my pocket KK lose out to pocket AA, all in pre flop..
I wake up that morning feeling great, I drive to Rama and I am pumped!
I get there, register and I am still feeling AWESOME!
We sit down at the tables and start playing by 12:15. The first hour is limit, after that it goes to NL. Rebuys for the first 1.5 hours(3 levels) and then an add on option at the end.
Original buy in: $100 + $20 = t1000
Rebuys: If under t1000 $50 for t500, if you have less then t500 you can rebuy twice.
At the end of the hour and a half rebuy period: Add ons, $75 = t1000
Ok shuffle up and deal.
At my table there are a few good players a few mediocre and a couple of dead money's. Players are rebuying like crazy, guy to my left counts $1800 in rebuys at our table alone at one point.(How the fuck is he keeping track of that? )Dude at the far end is wearing his wrap around sunglasses 8) and his baseball cap low, he is VERY comfortable with the chip tricks(uh oh). I keep my eyes on the sunglasses dude and realize he is a shit player, raising pre flop with crap like Q5o but hitting the flop, which I am happy to see. Keep playing that way, your good!
I feel I only made 2 mistakes during the tourney. I am sure there are more but with my limited ability I do not see them. :?
Level 3 NL: Sb t50, bb T100
I am on the button and it is folded around to me. I look at my cards and see JQo. I raise to t200.
Sb calls, bb calls.
Flop: QxQ
Sb checks, bb bets t100. I raise to t200. Sb folds, bb calls.
4th st: garbage. BB checks I bet t400 and he folds.
I pick up my cards and am about to throw them face up when I see that I have KJo not QJo! I quickly muck them..
Well, I got away with that one. WOW.
At the end of level3/rebuys I have t3000 and have not had to rebuy. I buy an add on here which now gives me t4000. I am feeling great/I can win this fucker!
Level 4 the blinds are 100-200.
I am calling my wife and a buddy during quick breaks to give them the updates. My "regular game" is later that night(I hope I am late) at my house so my buddy is sending out email updates of my progress to the other players.
I am playing at my original table for the next couple hours and am doing ok but the cards have turned cold for me. No biggie, I have a decent read on these guys, I still am ok for chips(low/middle stack) and I feel I have a good table image. I still feel awesome! Players are busting out all over the place, so new guys keep getting moved to our table..
Level 7. t500 t1000. I have about t5000. It is around 4pm and I am moved to another table.
Wow there are a couple huge stacks! Fuck me. Mr BIG stack does not look old enough to drive. GFY(good for him )
Man the cards have gotten really cold for me now.
This table is fast and aggressive I need some cards soon!
Mistake #2:
I am on the button with 10,Jo and it is folded to me, I limp in.
Small blind raises to t2500, bb calls....Oh fuck me, why did I fucking limp in. Fuck!....I fold...(It turns out the flop would not have helped me)
A few hands later I am in middle position, it is folded to me. I have JsQc, I push all in, t2500
Sb folds.
Bb has around t4000 left and calls with 10d 4h. WTF!
Flop: QXX, two diamonds. I feel good!
4th: Xd
River:Xd
I stand up and yell "Fuck you" to the BB, "fuck you" to the dealer and storm out......
Ok maybe I didn't do that. Maybe I just walked quietly to my car and drove home.
All in all the tournament was well run and I will return..
When I was knocked out they were down to 4 or 5 tables of 9 or 10 players each. So I guess I finished somewhere around 40-50 out of 122.
The tourney started out with 11 tables of 11.
