new player introduction

Hi all just found this site and have recently found poker and now am hooked. I have played on pokerstars and absolute and the best i got in a big tourney is 12 place. I play under the name dragondeath and have been playing mostly low limit games to gain some experience. I am tring to learn as much as i can and as fast as i can. I have a lot of spare time on my hands as i am off work with back and leg problems.
I was in niagrafalls 3 weeks ago and played my first live game which was a 2/4 at the casino and was that 100 gone fast,But it was fun.
Also i live in the east end just past oshawa and was wondering if their is any home games u may know of out this way?

  • Welcome! As far as losing at the casino, I wouldn't worry. Variance will be big in those low limit games even when you're playing a solid game. And no doubt if you're just learning, you'll have a few holes here and there. If you're eager on actually learning the game though, you're probably making more of an effort than 80-90% of the typical low limit casino players who are basically just out for a good time. Study, play, repeat. I still have memories of my first casino trip, thinking how horribly all the other players were playing. While that might have been true, I now think back at how horribly I was playing as well (specifically limping in bad position too often and cold-calling way too much).
  • Hi I am new here checking out the forum looks pretty cool , So how do I open a new window to make my own introduction post?
  • Welcome to the forum, most of us will answer your questions truthfully, some will answer with their head up their ass, and some will ask for money.

Have fun and keep it clean.
