Before the flop or after the flop that is the question

  • Like always, it depends.
On a lot of things...How many players, the blinds, the stacks, the feel of the table loose/tight, the cards....and more...

    Sorry. :|
  • This is personal preference
  • As usual, esool's answer of "it depends" is a pretty good answer.

Another pretty good answer is post-flop, since winning hands tend to have *much* bigger edges on the flop and beyond.

Also, as Sklansky points out in several places in TPFAP (for example, "The System"), unskilled players generally prefer to be all-in earlier than usual in hands. That is, the unskilled player is more willing to push close edges early in the hand, rather than make difficult decisions later in the hand.

  • Short-Stacked w/ Big hand, preflop
Big-Stacked w/Big Hands, post flop, with a decent raise pf

    I agree with this...
