Ultimate Poker Challenge Satellites

As I was leaving the BCC last night I noticed a sign for the Ultimate Poker Challenge 2005. It takes place in Point Edward Sept 20-25th. Apparently all of the Charity Casino's are holding satellite tournaments. Do any of you know when these satellites take place? Thankyou!

  • There should be a sign in the smoking room about it. check there.
  • They have a ton of satelites going right now. Just show up and ask about them. Or call. Whatever.
  • I paid $65 to play in the satellite for the $500 tourney. I came in 8th...I was holding JJ, opponet held 77 and hit quad 7's on the flop. He went on to win. I will probably try again next week.
  • nooner

when are these satellites held? Do you know times, etc?
  • Was there last week and it seems that if they have any open tables and 10 willing participants a sattellite will begin. word travelled fast when I was there though they filled 2 tables before the floor mgr was finished telling me what was happening.
  • Is this only @ BCC (edit my bad BBC, yes I am asking if its @ his house ;))? Or is it taking place at Port Perry as well? Where is Point Edwards and i guess the UPC is a Freezeout? How is the blind structure, as I wanted to play $300 Rama (sold out last week), but if the structure is better than Rama, $200 more for a better run tourneys seems much better.
  • Is this only @ BBC?

    :D

  • Does anyone have any other info. on the Ultimate Poker Challenge tournaments at the Point Edward Charirty Casino nest week??

    1) Blind Schedules? Including length of rounds?

    2) Number of starting chips?

    3) Is the final $1000 event field broken in two fields (Fri. and Sat.) like most large championship events nowadays and how many advance to Sunday?

    4) I head that some of these events are full!?!?

My point is it would be helpful if the casino/poker room had links/attachements where this info. can be viewed online......

    Thanks!
  • They finally called back and said the only event still open for registration is the final $1,000 event where you receive $5,000 in chips but the levels are 20 minutes!!! Obviously they are clueless regarding length of levels....there will be some play at the beginning but trust me after thrree or four hours the blinds will increase to rapidly and it will become an all-in fest. I may still play in it, as the prize money will be tempting but I'm worried about the event changing to rapidly with the 20 minute levels. I've played in several WSOP/WPT events this year at the minumum round levels are 50-60 minutes. You may not get the higher chip amounts but with the longer levels at least you get some conisitency versus 20 minute levels. Some tables will have a hard time getting a round of hands in at 20 minute levels. So for those who will be playing in this event...you heard it first hear....it will be a crapshoot as the tournament progresses. I guarantee the average chip stack will be 10-20% of the big blind when you get down toward the money...as I said an all-in fest where luck will prevail over skill. If you do play you better build your sack up early and take advantage of the bad players at your table. Don't wait for Aces and Kings and gamble early.....good luck....you'll need it!
  • My brother played in the similar event last year and he said the blind structure was fine and that it progressed at a good pace but was not an all in fest. Did you get the blind structure or just the level length. If the blinds go up real slow then the 20 min blinds are fine.
  • the satelites are on all the time. it is like a sit and go tourney. when they have ten people they start. the fee is $115. Won an entry last week at brantford
  • I know what you're saying...but the blinds go up every 20 minutes...that isn't very slow! And yes I did get their blind schedule, it's the same schedule as their weekly 50 man $100 buy-in event. Again my calculations will be most likely correct.....the B.B. will evenutally creep up to 10% then 20% of the average stack....and in major tournaments (well at least for this area) that is a major no no........so be prepared to gamble....I will most likely still play as the money is very enticing....
