The Value of Razorblades Skyrocketing?

Admittedly, I lived in the US from 2000-2004. Since moving back to Canada, I've noticed a strange phenomenom -- razors and razorblades are now kept in alarmed cases everywhere. Now how were these items singled-out as THE items to protect out of all the items in a given store.

I'm sure it's due high theft rates, but human-kind is very puzzling at times.

Quick, lock up the trident...just the trident. :D

    And yes, those razor blades are pricey!

    Yup, I believe this all started to happen about the time the Mach III came out....I went to my local DS looking for replacement blades..and the shelves had the sticker but no blades....I said to the clerk...you've got to be kidding me...you're out of razor blades???? 'Nope, she said, they are locked behind the counter now....to many were being stolen'....she grabbed me a 5-pack, think it was something like $16-18 bucks, maybe more and I think at the time you could buy the razor new with blades for less then the refill? Funny what people will steal eh?
